My sister is on the phone. Her friends cat is 19 and hasn't eaten in 4 days.

She is saying she doesn't have money to take him to the vet, and "can't she just give him a pill or something"

I am yelling at my sister to TELL HER TO GO TO THE VET NOW.

The friend says "I think he is dying anyways"

I tell her then at least get him euthanized, he is suffering.

I am so upset. These people are 7 hours away from here, an this poor baby is suffering with idiotic owners that don't give a
.

I am heartbroken for the baby.

Oh, that is heartbreaking! The poor baby. I don't understand how they could have him for 19 years and then let him suffer like that?!?!?

Oh that poor baby ... May it pass quickly so it will be out of pain .

This may seem crude but is there a way to call the humane society or whoever deals with animal cruelty there and make an anonymous complaint

Oh I don't even know her address or I would consider it.

The worst part is, the rates for the vet on the weekend would be even more for the urgent care..so I'm sure if she does decide to bring him to the vet it will not be until Monday morning

Can you walk her thru syringe feeding and if so would she do it ?>?? this could be a simple old age issue that could wait till monday if she gets something into kitty( plain baby food would be a great thing )

It sounds like there is probably a lot more going on then simply not eating........ I hope they take the kitty to the vets immediately as well. Please let us know. Sending vibes

Honestly, this just reaffirms my belief about people. Not you guys, just stupid pet owners.

Bless the little one that he gets help asap.

People always need to call the vet and explain your financial situation.

Usually the vet will negotiate the price or find one that will.

People need to realize pets are not cheap toys. Their medical care is costly just like the humans you love.

I hope this cat got the care it needed.

I think the whole reasoning is that pets are not viewed as important in most households and as disposable...

Therefore people who can't afford a regular vet are unwilling or too lazy to search around for a low-cost vet or negotiate.
