Um, so Hubby brought out a shot of Crown and instead of normally just drinking it, I managed to take it into my lungs. I know it is pretty awful feeling if I do that with water, but this was beyond horrible.

I instantly began coughing, choking, trying anything possible to try to get it out of my lungs, but I managed to get it into my sinuses and ears and nose. My throat feels swollen, my chest is burning, ALL of my mucus membranes are inflamed and very painful and I am still coughing.

Is this a temporarily bad thing, or should I seek help?

I went onto WebMD and they suggested calling the poison control center. I did that, but the poison control people said that it didn't count as a poisioning. I am feeling a little better, but my chest still hurts and my throat still feels swollen. I don't appear to be getting worse, but I am not much better.

A concern of mine is if I didn't cough all of the alcohol out, will it damage my lungs?

Yeah, do you have one of those healthlines you can call? Personally I think it's something that will go away on it's own in time, but it would be better to ask a healthcare professional.

I think that I will call my Dr on Monday. I am starting to really feel noticeably better.

I am a klutz and I panicked because I have never done this and it was about 100 times worse than inhaling some water.

Oooh I can only imagine how much that would burn! At least it was decent whisky.

Be careful and if it gets worse, please go to the ER. Inhaling anything into the lungs is bad. My aunt died after accidently inhaling a bit of her dinner, but she was suffering from pneumonia at the time so that probably didn't help. Scary thing was she was already in the hospital and they couldn't save her.

I hope it's nothing and you are feeling fine again very soon!

I don't think that inhaling a liquid is as bad as inhaling a solid such as food.

Nothing can replace good advice from your doctor or a helpline, but if it were me I would sit and wait it out unless my ability to breathe became impaired. I believe that the liquid will eventually be absorbed through your lungs and into your bloodstream.

Well, I woke up this morning coughing and hacking like a 30yr smoker, but I am back to normal this evening.
