Hello
My beautiful cat is named Yao, she is a sweetheart and very very close to me

I got her at six months from an ad in the paper and she has been a very well behaved and great cat ever since I first got her. Earlier today i started to notice something funny about her, she will walk very slowly on the ground and whenever she would walk her hind legs would stand a little taller and her tail would be perfectly straight. She would also be meowing very softly every few second very gently, not like her normal meow or her meow during heat, i have an appointment for the Vet on Monday at 3. But im hoping its nothing serious, her food and water intake is normal. Her litter box is normal, and she can still jump from high places and all the normal things she would do so I don't think anything is broken. Here is a picture of how she is walking with her hind legs all funny.

Hello and welcome!

Yao is very beautiful and most likely very much in heat. Be very very careful she does not get outside, even if she's never been outside, she may try to get out now.

Please let us know how the vet visit goes, I hope you can get her spayed very soon.

Yes, the meow that she usually makes from heat and companion seeking is usually alot longer lasting and at a different tone than this

Heats can vary each time, and the more often she has them, the worse they will get. I hope you can get her spayed very soon. It is very hard on a cat to keep going into heat.

Thank you!
That is what I thought, its just weird how she is walking like that, even as she is sitting on my lap getting comfy her legs are still like in the picture even when she is sitting down

The appointment on monday is to get her checked to see what is wrong, so hopefully they can do it that day

If not i will tell them it needs to be done ASAP.
She is an indoor cat and doesn't have anyway to go outside unless she were to open the garage door, which I doubt she can do yet.

A spay, since it is surgery, usually has to be prearranged, so it is not likely she will be spayed on Monday. But you can discuss it then and get it set up.

keep us posted!

Yes, the bond with a cat is incredible isn't it? Is Yao your first kitty?

She is so cute! I totally understand about her being like a daughter to you. And they don't even talk back.......well not to much!

I'm sure she's just still in heat. Let us know Monday what the vet said.

The vet would probably also prefer to spay her when she's not in heat, but I'm sure you could make an appointment. I would also look for low cost spay and neuter clinics in your area - they are generally much cheaper than vets, and do a fantastic job as it's the only surgery they do.

If you are comfortable posting the general area you live in, we can give you some links to places close to you.

I think it is very incredible, she falls asleep next to me every night and i wake up next to her every morning. She always follows me everywhere I go, and when I leave the house I can hear her wine from outside and I imagine she does that cause she misses me

She is my first, I got her when I moved out and I plan on getting another girl cat in a few months
