I posted a couple of weeks ago about a kitten I was saving and taking in with my 14 year old boy kitty.
I took him to the vet (it's definitely a boy) and had blood tests to make sure he didn't have lukemia or fiv or whatever and that came out normal, yay! He had fleas but no ear mites. Got him a flea treatment. And his first round of shots.
So, I had been keeping him in the second bedroom which my older cat has been walking by and looking at curiously but not really having too much of a reaction. Today I put the kitten in a carrier and put him in the hallway while coaxing my older cat to look at him with treats. He ate a couple of the treats and when he looked up and saw the kitten at the end of the hall in the carrier, he just stared at it. No hissing at all! Just stared. And then he got bored and jumped back on my bed.
I think that's a good sign! There hasn't been any hissing at all! I was worried about that. I just kept the kitten in the carrier there for a few minutes, didn't want to overdue it the first try.
So, my older cat (Micky) seems to be ok. And the little guy (Midnight) is doing well so far, too.
I'm going to keep going slow and hoping that this works out! Thanks to everyone for your advice!!
