Thanksgiving started early for me and I just finished a wonderful dinner with my roommate and a couple of our most dear friends. And, now that I'm so full that I'm lucky to be sitting in an upright position, I'm thinking about what all you other TCS members (in the USA) are planning to have on your plate at tomorrow's dinner.

While this was only just part one for me (I have dinner with the fam tomorrow), my plate was filled to the brim with delicious food for which I am incredibly grateful. This evening, we had turkey (which was to die for
), a non-traditional rice-based stuffing, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, cranberry-apple-orange salad, and, of course, apple and pumpkin pie for desert. And, if you can imagine, tonight's dinner was the smaller of the two!

Tomorrow, at my mother's house, we'll be having a ton of food. I know she'll have about a zillion appetizers and snacks for before the "main event" and I know the amount of food she'll have on the table for dinner will be awe-inspiring. Our traditional Thanksgiving dinner consists of turkey, ham, green bean casserole, mashed turnips, broccoli and cheese casserole, mashed potatoes, candied sweet potatoes (yummy
!), two types of stuffing, two types of cranberry sauce, parsnips (fried - not my fave), both candied and plain carrots, gravy, and dinner rolls. And, let's not forget dessert! There will be apple, pumpkin, and mixed berry pie, a chocolate layer cake, an assortment of fresh fruit, cookies galore, ice cream, and lots of tea and coffee. It's enough to feed an army, but, bless her heart, my mom loves cooking for Thanksgiving! And, it doesn't hurt that her cooking is ahh-mazing
.

So, that all being said, what are you planning to have on your plate tomorrow? What is your family's tradition, if any? And, most of all:

Hmm turkey, made with a bulgarian twist- the stuffing made of rice, chopped chicken livers, and chives and the whole turkey baked with saurkraut all around (or potato slices, I'm not sure)..
Tiramisu for dessert...I am not sure what else because my mom is making it all, but I just know about the turkey since we have that every year.

Turkey with sauerkraut sounds interesting. I know it tastes great with pork loin or roast.

Probably all the standards. I've made mashed potatoes, stuffing, and spaghetti squash so far. MIL made brisket, turkey, green bean casserole, and sweet potato pie. DH's grandma is making chicken and noodles, and the rolls - not sure what else or what desserts and being made.

Turkey with bread stuffing, mashed potatoes, mushroom gravy, green bean casserole and for dessert - Kauhla Pumpkin Cheesecake.

There's only 2 of us this year and I've got a 14 pound turkey. Can you say leftovers?

DD's boyfriend wants to fry a turkey, so he bought a 20 lb. one then found out it was too big for the fryer. I bought a 12 lb that I was bringing over to bake before I heard about the other turkey, so now we are baking the 20 pounder and frying the smaller one!

I'm also providing sage stuffing (in a casserole)
Green bean casserole
Others are fixing:
Mashed potatoes
Corn souffle
cranberry sauce
Yams
Salads, and I don't know what else!!

Leftovers? Oh yeah.

I really don't know as we are going to dinner at a friend's from church house. I do know there will be fresh rolls, turkey, dressing and ham. I am not sure what else except for deviled eggs. I know about the eggs since I just made them. That was a chore!!! I boiled 18 eggs, cooled, peeled (sorta, some didn't peel to good) and mixed up the mixture. They are in the fridge. It was sooo tempting to eat one!

My boyfriends mom always makes a lot of food. There's going to be the turkey, and mashed potatoes, stuffing of course, corn, green beans, yams, deviled eggs, celery with cream cheese (instead of peanut butter), probably cornbread. MMMMMMMMMM I'm hungry just thinking about it!

After dinner, me, bf, bf's mom, dad, grandfather and cousin will be going to my bf's aunt's house for dessert. I don't know exactly what they will be serving, but we go there all the time on holidays and all the food is fantastic! So I know I can count on the dessert to be delicious!

I am going to try to find time to go over to my stepmoms. I totally forgot about her this year
. I feel terrible because she is more of a mother to me than my own mother (i love her, but it's the truth). I'm trying to figure a time where I can get over there this year, and I also know the food will be great there too.. I'm going to have a full stomach tomorrow

Turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, and cranberry gook (jellied cranberry sauce, but we call it cranberry gook lol). Mmmmm!! My husband's turkey is the best, too! I can't wait!

I am having a big giant Rubin sammy! I am alone this year, and I am thankful for that! My family is one that will kill you with kindness as the queen bee sees fit, AKA my step Mom.
Bland food, and hunting hunting, her son will kill anything with a face and has taught his son to do the same. He is never around for Thanksgiving dinner, killing is more important than family. Last year we were treated to deer sausage which I did eat, and it was tasty, and then saw the fawn his son had killed, parts of it still hanging in thier back yard, a yearling, still had spots on it. I am not fully against hunting, and have no illusions where the meat for my ruebin comes from from, but jezze, killing baby deer in the woods just so to make the killl, that is so very wrong.

I have in the oven cooking now my second ever TOFURKY Roast! This stuff is so tasty, had one for the first time last year, and I love the stuffing in it too of a wild rice blend...this is serious delicious stuff! Then of course all of the traditional sides to go with this meatless treat. To all the naysayers, I say, "don't knock it till you try it!"

that sounds awful
I don't understand how people can enjoy killing and treat it as a sport..

Turkey's ready here and its' been tasted, soo yummy..
Jake is terrified of the turkey, I was holding him around it and he scratched me so that he could get away...
I dunno whats up with that, it's just food silly Jake
...Maybe he's afraid that he will suffer the same fate as the turkey, since they are about the same size
