Cornish Rex question

Thread Starter
I think I have posted about rexes and oriental shorthairs before.. but I was at a CFA in Longview Wa a few weeks ago and got to meet a pair of Cornish Rex kittens. Their owner asked if I would like to hold one, and I think I fell in love. She was a calico/tortoiseshell, about 14 weeks old and a wiry bundle of WARM squiggles. Purring like a crazything, she tried to climb onto my head.

The breeder told me that they tend to feel warmer than other types of cats, but maybe it's the fact that their coat is quite thin and you feel the skin more?

Someday, after I get my new smoke mau girl settled in, and figure out the dynamics of my cattery, I want to look into the possibility of getting one of these crazy little cats. My sister wasn't as enthralled, she thought they were a bit 'weird'. She actually fell in love with the ocicat kitten being shown, and now she wants to learn more about bronze Maus... I'm going to try and sell her on a smoke in the future as her two 18 year old cats are on the decline.

Anyway, anything I should know about Cornish Rexes? They are sooooo darn cute.

My friend was at that show with sphynx but sh is friends with some very good Cornish Breeders.
Do you want me to talk to her you.
She used to rescue them.
Martice knows about them also.
I love how the cornish feel.
I was so tempted to get one.
Who was the breeder that let you see them?

I bred/showed Cornish before I got the Ocicats (think your sister should get a Mau from you and an Ocicat too).

Cornies are a bit warmer, but not as much as the Sphynx cats. They are very active cats, very people oriented and will sleep under the covers with you all the time. Very pushy lap-cats too. Agree you DO fall in love with the personalities before you get used to curly fur.

Spooky was my all-time fav Rex - he loved people, didn't care where he was as long as he got attention. His best show win was 10th Best Alter Nationally and he always was in the Regional and Natiional awards every year he was shown. We lost him at 15 1/2 yrs from a heart attack. That was when we went to a show and hubby fell in love with the Oci's, so now we have two of them.

IM me with what catteries you are looking at - there are a few lines/catterys that you have to watch for too much heart problems (I know them) - so please ask me about the cats before you choose.
