I need help!! My altered male siamese cat, Stuart has a HUGE issue with urinating. It has been going on for several years and it was usually not a huge issue. He basically marks things by spraying on my walls (he started this when I first moved in with my BF and his altered male maine coon). When he first started doing it in 2006 it was only one spray/3 weeks but over the years it has gotten out of control. When I got my female Sphynx (altered as well) Stuart went out of control! Peeing lakes on my kitchen counter tops everyday (waiting till I left the house or go to bed to do it) and peeing on my Ikea fabric lamp repeatedly. He calmed down after awhile and only kept doing the lakes on my counter tops everyday. Now I have moved back home into a freshly renovated basement and Stuart has gone bonkers and has been making the worst mess of spraying I have EVER encountered! Peeing on ALL imaginable walls (rivers on the brand new carpet!), ripping paint off the wall (with urine & constant cleaning), urinated on my hardwood sleigh bed and bed and doors and EVERYTHING! I have tried everything possible to help him know he is in charge but nothing is helping.
1. 5 cat boxes - different litter types, different locations (so he can feel safe)
2. Cat boxes cleaned daily!
3. food dishes placed in separate areas so they can eat in private areas
4. beds available in different locations in my basement appt.
5. Bedding kept clean
6. Even leaving his sprayed areas he will go back and repeatedly urine on them
7. Lots of attention so he doesn't think he's been 'replaced' etc. I always cuddle with him at night and during the day when I am around. He's the first one I call
Help guys! I LOVE him.... I know this is a behavioral issue and I refuse to get rid of him. So far the best idea I could come up with is to buy him a big dog kennel and leave him in it during the day and let him out with me there at night wearing a female dog diaper (for when their in heat).
Any advice?
Thanks guys.
