My dad called this evening; I knew something was up - he never calls me in the evening. My mom has diverticulitis, and has had an apparent infection for a few weeks, with pain, running to the bathroom, etc. Today the doctor sent her to the ER, and she was admitted. She's on an IV - he wants nothing solid going through her.

This scared me: they found "cysts" on her liver, but my dad said the dr. "didn't thing they were malignant". What?? What the heck does that mean? So she's there, probably worrying herself to death because Thanksgiving is in 3 days, and she always cooks. She's 73.

So I was already upset about that when I received the news that one of my daughter's 14-year-old friends passed away tonight from the cancer that she's fought since the age of 6. She's been so strong for all these years; but the cancer came back with a vengeance this Fall, and she just couldn't beat it. My heart just breaks for her family. She never got to go to high school, will never go to prom, or college, or do teenage stuff, and there are no words for how sad and unfair this seems.

I see a lot of people in pain in this forum and I hate to even ask, but if you guys could spare any vibes, we sure could use them here in West Virginia.

Your thread title was sadly very accurate, and I'm sorry!
Lots of vibes all around...healing for your mom, comfort for that poor child's family, and strength for the rest of you.

Even with all the sadness and bad things that have happened in my family in the last month I am still very sorry about what you are going through.
There is nothing wrong with posting about it.
Prayers for everyone in your family and your daughters friends family.

Sometimes when it rains it pours. Keep good thoughts about your mom. Is she in good health otherwise? Thanksgiving can always be postponed for when she comes home and can eat again. Try not to borrow trouble till you know whats what.

It's so sad to see someone pass at such a young age. There's not much to say except have faith that she is without pain now and in a much better place.

So sorry to hear this sad news. I hope your Mom will be better soon and maybe even home for Thanksgiving with someone else doing the cooking. The 14 yr. girl that passed, well that is just to sad for words, condolences to her family. Sending good vibes your way,

I hope you get good news of your mother very soon. And good vibes for your daughter's friend's family, that they recover from this terrible blow. My sister lost a friend in her early teens, from leukaemia, and the whole class went into shock, though she had been ill for a long time. I think it made my sister a better person in a way - she learnt early on that all of us are mortal and that time is precious.
