Litter Locker (by Petmate)

Thread Starter
I bought one of these the other day. Since we're back in FL and the auto litter box is in MN, I am scooping manually again so I decided to get a Litter Locker to make disposal a little easier.

I'm just basically looking for info on problems to watch out for, tips and tricks, etc. Any info that would be helpful.

Oh, and how long should one of these bag catridges last with 2 cats (scooping daily)?

I've honestly had no problems with it and think it's great! I have had it since sept. and only changed the cartridge once. I have 2 cats and scoop daily. The may tip or trick is to buy the refills bulk online! much cheaper if you don't have to pay a fortune in shipping, try amazon!

I agree with Imunsie. I love my LitterLocker, it is totally awesome! It really does save money to get your refills from Amazon.com. We scoop twice a day with 2 cats and one litterbox. Also, we empty the litterlocker once a week. We haven't had any problems with the litterlocker and we have had it for well over 2yrs.

I like mine. Have had it for about a year. The cartridges last 4-6 weeks, I think, with 2 cats, 2 litter boxes, 2 cleanings per day. Someone on this site suggested I get the refills from petguys.com -- they are quite inexpensive from there and the shipping costs are not unreasonable if one buys bulk, which I do.

I love, love, love mine! Scooping daily wasn't an issue when I lived in an apartment and I could take the bag of scooped stuff out to the dumpster on my way out in the morning. It became a smelly issue when I moved to my own place and trash pickup is once a week.

Biggest tips - Always do the one turn (from one click to the next, so 1/2 turn) when you start a new tie in the bag (I hope that made sense) because if you don't it won't go around the spindle right. Turn the handle just enough to get the stuff to the bottom, and turn it while you are putting the scooped stuff into the LL if you have big pee-ball makers like I do. Don't use their built in cutter; user your own scissors. Shake down the scooped stuff a little before you cut & tie when you go to throw out the full bag. Don't ever force it - it's a real mess if the bag gets cut on the gears because it's too full.

How did you DIY? I just ordered 15 replacement cartridges, but if there's future rigging to be done, I'd love to know how you did it. Thanks!!

A friend showed me ... I am not that inventive...

took a 8 gallon closed lid( has the latch to open and close) can and 8 gallon roll of bags in bottom... you smelll nothing and just fill the bag then throw away pull up next bag... Cost about 10 $ total ... so far one bag a week

Clever in its simplicity! Thanks!

I have one. It works pretty well, but I find that even though I have only one cat it fills up fast and is hard to turn.
