poor starving boys

Usually, the first and most important thing we do in the morning is feed the cats. However, this week they have both been forgoing breakfast for the sake of watching the little squirrel who has discovered the bounty on my balcony. It's quite amazing that they both rush to the window when I let them out, and neither are interested in food until Mr Squirrel leaves!

That squirrel looks well fed. Nice and plump and the cats are probably hoping you have a good recipe for roast squirrel.

no roast squirrel in the works here! Mr Squirrel is far too valuable as entertainment for the boys.

I was worried Mr Squirrel's daily feasting is doing the birds out of theirs, so I went out and bought a corn cob for him yesterday. They're supposed to stop them from going for the feeder. He doesn't seem too interested in eating it yet, but thinks it's handy for standing on to better reach the feeder!

They prefer delivery, thank you very much! So cute.

Mr Squirrel went and told all his friends about our balcony, so now we have four different ones who visit. Well, I rearranged the feeder so only the birds could get it, but of course I couldn't neglect the squirrels. I have a little one on the ground for them, corn cob in a holder, and yesterday I bought some nuts.
I only got a few different ones because I wasn't sure if they'd like them. $1.79 total, entertainment value=priceless. This morning one very cheeky little guy took a walnut and feasted on it right on the bedroom window ledge! Pushkin was besides himself in frustrated indignation.

The squirrel is so bold, he just stood there while I took the photos and wasn't bothered by Pushkin at all.

Squirrels are so clever because they know they can tease and can't get hurt.

Thanks for the laugh.

Well one was a little too bold today - DH had left the balcony door open a bit, and a squirrel was out munching on seeds. Pushy sneaked out and got quite close before the squirrel clued in that the cat was actually outside with him! He ran up the wall and stayed there, chattering loudly telling us off!
