Here are 3 pics of my kitty Candy, she has recentely been diagnosed with the feline equivalent of downs syndome- she is 6 years old and such a cutie and very special to me.x

This one is so funny, I didn't realise till after I took the pic she had her tongue out

she's very cute!
What makes her different then? Can you tell something's not right with her by looking, or was it a behavioural thing?

Hi, mainly its her co-ordination (or lack of it), she always sits like she does in the first pic, she walks in a room and sort of looks as though she doesn't know what she came in for and goes out again. I noticed all this about 3 years ago but it has only taken me until now to convince my vet to look into it further. Downs in cats is very rare and apparently the main issue is with co-ordination, candy can't jump on things very well, she either misses or falls down, so I really have to keep my eye on her. The vet said this will get worse with age but there is no reason why she won't live any less longer than an average cat. I can tell in her face that she looks different to my other four cats, I have always thought she was "different", a very special girl. There are so many things that she does and some times it can be frustrating for me to watch but my vet said there isn't anything available to help her. I have tried doing reseach on the net but there isn't much available. All my vet has offered is six monthly checks to make sure her heart is healthy and she is physically fine.x
