I went to pick up the kitty yesterday. The lady who had them dumped on her was very nice but quite clueless. She had two indoor kitties and two resident barn kitties. Then there was the kitty I went to get. First off,the "she kitty" is actually a "he kitty". Not sure how they missed that since although his boy parts weren't particularly big, they were definitely there and could not be mistaken for girl parts. Then there was his sister who looked very pregnant. We took them both. I wasn't planning on taking two but I since sister cat wasn't spayed yet, I figured she would give birth to a litter of unwanted kittens. As soon as I got home I called to see if there was room on the spay/neuter schedule for them since I was taking Sasha in today anyway. There was.

They stayed the night shut away from the other cats here and then early this morning they went to vet when I took in Sasha. Come to find out, when the vet got inside sister cat to spay her, she was not pregnant. She had a large hernia and it was pressing on the walls of her abdomin making her look pregnant. The vet took care of it so she will probably be feeling much more comfortable. She is incredibly sweet and loving as is her brother. Sasha and the two new kitties have all came through their surgeries just fine and are resting. They get to come home tomorrow afternoon.

Not sure if I am keeping sister cat. She is sweet and adorable but I may try finding her a home. She has a place with us until she finds one. Her brother we are keeping. His name is Tiberius and I will take pics after he has come home and had time to rest and recover.

edited to add: I bet the people who dumped sister cat did it because they thought she was pregnant too. I am assuming that they are brother and sister only because they are both orange and white, look to be the same age and were dumped together.

Thanks for the update.

It is good to have them being cared for with the winter weather starting all too soon.

I don't think there is a member on the board that would walk away and do nothing when presented with such a situation. I knew the minute I looked at sister cat that something had to be done. At the time I just thought she was pregnant but even then I knew it needed handled before yet another cat had a litter of kittens born into a world without enough homes for them all. Then I was relieved when I found out it was hernia and not kittens. She looked big enough that even the techs thought she looked very pregnant. So I imagine she had to be quite uncomfortable having a hernia that large.

I hope I didn't put this thread in the wrong area.
