My kitten, Bailey, has diarrhea. I've had her for over a month now, and she's always been completely healthy. She's had her shots, been checked for worms. She's an inside cat, so she couldn't have gotten into anything. She hasn't had any diet change recently (she gets 3/4 can Natural Life wet food).

Still normal personality (hyper as heck), hungry and eating fine. Still her exuberant little self. She only gets wet food, so she doesn't drink a whole lot of water, but it is available. I wouldn't have even noticed, but a few minutes ago she went to the litter box and I...<ahem>...heard it, lol. She definitely has the "squirts."

Should I be concerned? Wait a day or two?

I don't know much, but I will say this. The kitten I was going to adopt was living in a foster home and he developed diarrhea. She didn't think anything of it because she had never had a kitten before. Anyway, by the time she got him to the vet it was essentially too late, they tried to save him, but he just couldn't hang on any longer.

I would at least call the vet and see what they say.

hope your kitty feels better soon.

Take your kitten to the vet if the diarrhea happens again!

Kittens are fragile, and you want to avoid dehydration, which can happen to a little creature with diarrhea pretty quickly.

It could still be parasites. Fecal tests do not always detect the presence of worms, and worming treatments don't always work the first time. It could be a virus, or did the kitten get into plants or flowers? Could be lots of things...

Whatever it is, please get some care for the kitten ASAP if it continues!

I don't have any house plants, so I'm not worried about that.

I mixed some warm water in her food last night so it was kind of a soup. She ate all of it, so hopefully the extra fluids got her rehydrated.

She's had a normal solid stool since last night, and she's still bouncing all over the walls and hungry.

If she has diarrhea again, I'll be taking her to the vet. As it is now, I'm not too worried. Maybe she just had an upset tummy, but I'll keep my eye on her

Thanks for the replies!

Hopefully she just had an upset tummy but did you go through three sets of kitten deworming? Most dewormers can not kill the egg and juvenile stages of parasites so you need to deworm them several times to get rid of all of the parasites as they grow. Parasites could be causing diarrhea. If she does have diarrhea again, take a poop sample with you to the vet so she doesnt have to stay there waiting to poop for them
