Persi and I often have staring contests. He almost always wins. I read somewhere that you should not have staring contests with your cats but I just cannot resist. Those big round Himalayan bright blue eyes can almost put you in a trance.

Yesterday we engaged in the greatest staring contest of all. I of course could not look at my watch to see how long this contest lasted; but it had to been well over five minutes. During the contest my cellphone went off. I have my cellphone programmed so that all my important friends and family have their own unique ring so I never have to look and see if anybody important is calling. The cellphone rang but neither Persi or I diverted our staring contest. I was really beginning to get tired when the doorbell rang. Those of you that know Persi know that he ran to the door to greet whoever was there. He always does this.

I do not answer the door unless I am expecting somebody but the salesperson or whoever it was ended the contest! I wonder how long this would have went on had the the doorbell not rung!

Do any other of you folks get into staring contests with any of your cats? How does it turn out? Is it fun? Is it a bad thing to do? By the way, Persi is laying right here by the computrer looking at me. I am not paying any attention to him!
I have won the world championship staring contest and I am not taking any chances of losing my title.

I try sometimes, but it doesn't really work. If you stare at Xander he will meow and come over for scratches and headbutts. If you stare at Riley he will stare back for just a minute, then give you a disgusted look and turn his back on you and walk off
