Nothing pees me off more than sitting down on a wet seat. I always look, but sometimes if the lighting is not good you don't see it. I had a coworker that did this all the time, and I put up a sign that said, if you pee on your feet, please lift up the seat. Needless to say she ignored it. When I asked her to lift the seat, the response was "I'm not touchin that thing!" So it is ok for her to make a disgusting mess, but it is not ok for her to touch a toilet seat.
Your boss will take offense, there are some people, and even cultures that teach peeing on the seat at a young age, and nothing will make them alter their behavior.

Where I work, we have a disposable/paper toilet seat protector dispenser in each stall. This helps enormously with the dirty or wet seat problems. Perhaps you could ask your boss if something like that could be installed in your bathroom.

Unfortunately, we have a disgusting pig who refuses to flush. The bathroom is in the women's locker room, so there's no denying the gender of the offender. Another disgusting thing I've experienced while in a stall...hearing someone else flush, and walk out of the bathroom (and into the Operating Room suite, no less!!!) without washing their hands!!!!! Just makes me want to yak!!!

Okay, I want names. I'll make sure these people never work in the medical field again!

There's nothing I hate more than going into a bathroom and finding pee on a seat (or worse. There's times I've gone into a public bathroom and found poo in the toilet. ewww). But, luckily, I don't have this problem@at work because there is only 4 people that work there. And the bathroom is immaculate. Nobody hovers, so nobody hit the seat by mistake.

The best idea without getting confrontational, is to put up that sign another member suggested.

Whenever I go to the bathroom in a store I always look for the cleanest looking seat. That's kinda hard actually, especially Walmart bathrooms, going in there late at night. Almost every seat is pee-d on. I look for the cleanest seat. Then I put 2 of the paper seat covers on. I do this because I can't hover. I never could, I guess my legs aren't strong enough. And now I have a bad leg so hovering is impossible. I use 2 seat covers and wash my hands really really good after.

I was SO going to suggest that! LOL. We had those signs at girl scout camp.

Urine is almost sterile and does not contain much microorganisms, unless one has a kidney or bladder infection. (that is the microbiology student in me)

Now having said that...I think it is gross that people leave behind presents - I won't go to the loo if the toilet is covered - I am afraid someone will leave a present behind. Yuck!

I always have wipes with me if I know I will be going to a public bathroom, for situations like that. It might be worth buying wet wipes or whatever and keeping them at work.

I guess I am the only one who when encountering a situation like this, I just wipe the seat and cover the seat with a lot of toilet paper without feeling too strongly about it?? lol..

In my experience its common for women to pee on the seat - especially when hovering. The toilets where I work always have pee on them somewhere it seems. I mean seriously, clean it off if you hover and sprinkle. The blood is the worst though

I do too when using a public bathroom in say a mall or something like that. I keep wipes in my purse.

I think tho if I had to face it on a regular basis at my place of employment with minimal persons using it, I would feel a little more annoyed.

One of my jobs at work was to clean the bathrooms..... it was DISGUSTING. I would have rathered encounter pee on the seat than what I have encountered
I won't even go into details but will say it was a WOMAN only issue.

We had 2 signs in the womens bathroom: If you sprinkle when you tinkle, be a sweetie and wipe the seatie. (that was in both bathrooms) Second: If you wouldn't do it at home, don't do it here.

My suggestion would be the note and if that doesn't work, put a pack of lysol wipes on the lid of the toilet ( as in shut the lid when done, put wipes on the lid so there is no doubt they would be seen.... if no lid, then the back of the toilet ).

As for women peeing on seat: it happens, not only to hoverers. My kids for example, yes they wipe but occasionally there may be a drip as they stand up. I've taught them to look at the seat after they go, and to clean up after themselves. Even I look at the seat when I'm done "just in case".

I agree that this is a very difficult situation.....and one has to be tactful and respectful about an uncomfortable topic LOL.... not a great situation to be in.

Good luck with it.

Back in the early 1980's I was living in the northern part of my Province with my then Fiancee. The company he worked for shared a bathroom with a taxi company. Said taxi company consisting of all men. Said men had zero bathroom etiquette whatsoever.

The girl who worked in my Fiancee's office was forever complaining about the fact that the guys from the taxi company peed all over the seat and floor and never flushed the toilet even after going #2!!!!

One day while I was there she came stomping into the office after having used the bathroom, rifled through her purse and went back to the bathroom.

When she came back she had a huge smirk on her face.

Turns out it was her time of the month, and she got really fed up with how piggish those guys were so she left them a little present on the edge of the toilet seat! Yep! You guessed it! A used tampon!!!

They got the hint and started to flush the loo!!

My first job in high school was at a fast food place and so I'd have to clean bathrooms every couple days or so (we shared that chore!) and I can tell you the MENS room was always cleaner and smelled a ton better!! It baffled me!

I think I'm just going to get a pack of wipes for my purse or MAYBE a container for the back of the toilet as suggested. I'm just hoping to keep working till the holidays so I'm hoping I can make it another month without having a mini-melt down. The past couple of days my hormones have been just wacky....so while I do think I have a right to be annoyed, I think that is what's cutting out my patience with the situation.

Could be worse. My BIL was telling me the other night that his boss didn't want to pay for maintenance or a plumber to fix a clog in the mens restroom, so he was made to take care of it.

This thread gave me flash backs of bad truck stop restrooms and one that I recently encountered at an mall (dying mall, I've mentioned it before). That mall restroom was terrible, it even had a few burnt out fluorescent tubes and a couple that flickered making it look like a scene from some horror movie/game. I was almost expecting some Silent Hill type monster to pop out.
I don't know why people are so filthy.

So many bosses have SO much wrong with them, I mean no one is perfect but many bosses make people dread having to come into the office. Consider yourself lucky by far if a bit of pee on the seat is her biggest sin. Buy a box of Colorox wipes, set them beside it, and wipe off the seat. Cover it with toilet paper before you go. And go on with life. Don't worry, you will get a break soon when you have your baby. And the bathroom time won't be so frequent anymore.
I don't see confronting her helping the situation at all, and the fall out could be far reaching to your detriment.
