Gooooooooooooooood Morning! Here are a few questions for you. The theme is (mostly) desert island, i.e. suppose you were stranded on one... and don't worry about the technology to support your choices, that will be taken care of...

1. What would be your five Desert Island CDs? They don't need to come from your own collection. Why would you choose these particular ones?

2. You might also want some reading material. What would be your five Desert Island books? Why?

3. What else would you like to have with you to occupy your time and your mind?

4. You'll also need food. If you could have only two or three foods and nothing else, what would you choose? Why?

5. If you could have one human companion, who would that be? Why?

This one is not part of the theme:

6. If you came into a large sum of money -- an unexpected inheritance, a winning, whatever, but "set-you-up-for-life" big -- what would be the first four things you would do?

Good morning to you too! 9:55 am here as I type this
1. What would be your five Desert Island CDs? They don't need to come from your own collection. Why would you choose these particular ones?
Patti Smith - Horses; reminds me of my mom and me singing along together on various drives. Mozart - The Marriage of Figaro; a great and lengthy story with some of the most beautiful music I know. Pearl Jam - Lost Dogs; A great CD, a lot of songs I can play on guitar and feel in tune with. K'Naan - Troubadour; Ive been really feeling this CD since I bought it, great lyrics and rhythm - it wont get old on me. The soundtrack to the movie Death Proof - Just a great collection of songs

2. You might also want some reading material. What would be your five Desert Island books? Why?
Stephen King's The Stand; one of my favourite books i can read over and over. Piers Anthony's Macroscope; if I had to pick a favourite book, I think this would be it. I love the imagery it gives me. Don Freeman's Corduroy; a childhood favourite story I still love to this day. Graham Hancock's Fingerprints of the Gods; A little non-fiction to keep me familiar with some other civilizations, and The Bible - despite being unclear on personal beliefs, its importance would make it one of my five. (
3. What else would you like to have with you to occupy your time and your mind?
At least a pair of kitties! The internet? (I might be glad to be fully rid of it!). A group of my family and friends

4. You'll also need food. If you could have only two or three foods and nothing else, what would you choose? Why?
Pizza, because its the best food there is, Halloween Candy, as Ive been enjoying it so much lately, I wouldnt want to be without, and Apples - gotta love apples.

5. If you could have one human companion, who would that be? Why?
Im going to say one of my best friends Lesley - she would be able to work with me on a successful way out of there
This one is not part of the theme:

6. If you came into a large sum of money -- an unexpected inheritance, a winning, whatever, but "set-you-up-for-life" big -- what would be the first four things you would do?
1. Call my mom and tell her 2. Pay off student loans and all other debt, 3. Buy a ridiculously expensive piece of jewelery and wear it out of the store, 4. Go home to Ontario and celebrate with my family and friends.

ahhhh to win the lottery...I won $5 on a scratch and win last night lol!

…The topic of now going to be Movies!

Good evening!! Today was ok, I had a productive day in lab, and managed to do some grocery shopping...I made 1/2 a batch of chocolat chip cookies for dessert (froze the other half in cookie-balls)
1.- Wich one is your favourite Genre of Movies? Horror! Also like action, comedy, and interational movies a lot
2.- Do you collect DVD´s or VHS??,….How many do you have?
I abandoned VHS several years ago, but, I/we do collect DVDs, I have 91 Blu Rays about 450 DVDs
3.- Wich one is your favourite Actor Male?Philip Seymour Hoffman

5.- Have you ever to participated in some Special Event of your favourite artist? I have not, but I would if something came up nearby for sure!

Once, I was visiting a really good friend in Kingston, Ontario, and we were having beer and wings at this little pub downtown. She goes "Oh hey, thats Dan Akryoid" and I sort of rolled my eyes and ignored her, until I realized it WAS DA, less than 20 feet away lol
7.- Do you like to watch the Oscar Awards?
Every year
I participate in an Oscar Pool among friends - have yet to win, I guess my personal taste isnt right in line with the academy

8.- Have you ever to participated in a role in a Theather representation? ( maybe just for fun or when you was on School?) …
No! Not my thing, I always had stage fright...getting better now that Ive given more presentations

Steven Segal...I love Segal movies, Id really like to know what he is like in real life...and then maybe get a bit part in a movie lol
10.- Would you like to live next at some artist (? ( I mean for example your neighboor would be a TV anchor or else?)…
…Definately not, Id prefer lo-key neighbours that dont attract a fuss!

1. Do you cook? Do you like to, or is it a chore? I do cook, but some days its too much a chore (usually long days in lab!) and I go for ordering pizza. I do this pre-make dinner thing once a month or so where you do all the prepwork and then freeze the meals, then they just pop in and cook in less than 30 mins...this has really helped me save time and learn the types of ingredients that go together

2. Do you like to cook with someone else? How well do you share your kitchen?Well, I made cookies with a friend on the weekend, and I think without a really big kitchen, which I do not have, Im a solo chef!

3. What is your favourite thing to prepare?A big batch of oatmeal cookies...I love the raw ones too mmmmm

4. What is your favourite dish that someone else prepares for you? Who?Pizza, made by anyone!!! Seriously though, probably moms chili

5. Either of those favourites might be a comfort food, or not. What is your favourite comfort food?Pizza! Pizza will always fit the bill for me, though probably like the last question, Moms chili wins

6. What is your favourite celebration food?Pizza! LoL. Red Velvet Cupcakes are a more recent fave

7. When people come to my table, I always ask first whether there are any allergies/sensitivities/likes/dislikes I should keep in mind. If you came to my home, what would your answer be?Please keep mushrooms 100% out of everything! I HATE HATE mushrooms, and they contaminate everything. Aside from that Ive become much more adventurous with food, but am still not a fan of anything creamy/creamy sauces.

8. Do you consider yourself adventurous where unfamiliar food is concerned? Compared to me 5 years ago, YES. Compared to a real foodie, not at all.

9. What is your favourite meal of the day? After school snack
I always eat something around 4-5pm and it really hits the spot.
Thanks for the questions, now Im all hungry and still 2-3 hours until Lunch! LoL

Ooooh thats a good topic - I love music!
1.- Wich one is your favourite Genre of Music?
If I have to pick only one, Ill say alternative Rock
2.- How many Cd´s do you have?
181!
3.- Wich one is your favourite singer Male?
I really like Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam as a male vocalist
4.- Wich one is your favourite singer Female?Aimee Mann for sure (she sings most of the songs on the Magnolia soundtrack for those who are unaware)
5.- Have you ever to listened at http://www.rippingtons.com/ ?????
No, Im not a fan of internet radio, and tend to just make my own playlists from my MP3s/CDs
6.- Do you have a CD collection? ( I mean for example all Cd´s from a determinate artist???
I was a big fan of Hole in my rebellious high school days, so I have all their CDs, I have most Mozart operas...but otherwise no
7.- Have you ever to participated in some Concert of your favourite artist?
Actually no, but I have been to a handful of random concerts that Ive enjoyed
8.- Do you have any preference to listen a Radio FM station???
We tend to keep Sonic 102.9 on in the Lab (alternative rock - not a great station; they play a lot of the same songs over and over
Have you ever to listened this one??...,….
http://www.1.fm/Station/SmoothJazz/Default.aspx I have not, but I checked it out just now
)
9.- In your own opinion wich one is better, a CD original from an artist or an MP3 collage of music without nothing of information?...
I like to physically have CDs, and I love the liner notes, but as far as the music goes it doesnt make a difference
10.- Do you play some Musical instrument?
…
I play the Guitar and the Oboe (though I havnt had access to an oboe in a little more than 5 years now)
Thank you my friend in advance for your nicely answers, I beg you love the music like I!...
Thank you for the questions
Hope your day is going well and that you are listening to something nice as you read this

Other than Canada, Ive only visited the USA - Ive been to California, Ohio, New York State, Wisconsin, and Michigan...Id like to do a lot of traveling, but have yet to get a salary that will allow it! Most travel Ive done has been for conferences, with a couple extra days tacked on for fun.
2. Which was your favourite overall?I really liked Milwaukee, it was the 4th of July last year when I was there, and it was a lot of fun. Favourite place to visit in Canada is Montreal - GREAT city

3. Which was your favourite trip? The last trip I took was for the World Diabetes Congress in Montreal, followed by a 5 day trip "hope" to Toronto (and area). This was probably my favourite, because of all the delicious food I had....OMG Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwiches SO SO SO Good

4. Would you live in any of them longterm?I dont know if I can live anywhere "long term" other than Ontario where my family and most of my friends are. Ive been in Alberta for 3 years and just cant wait to go back. That said, I like them all enough that if I could get back home often, I just might be able to!
Id really like to go somewhere far and exotic (China?) but I dont know if I can handle that long of a flight - the 4 hour ones are boring enough for me!

I grew up in Montreal. This is the only thing I really miss. Don't get me wrong, it will always be my home town, and let nobody say anything bad about it -- but the only thing I pine for -- and I do -- is smoked meat.

Where did you have your Smoked Meat? My brother still lives there, and swears by Schwartz on Main Street, as do many people. I always really liked Ben's on de Maisonneuve.

OK, so, a few more food questions then...

1. Which do you prefer, electric or gas? Which do you have?

2. Cookbooks: do you like them? What's your favourite one?

3. Are you primarily a recipe cook, or do you like to fly by the seat of your pants?

4. What's the most memorable restaurant meal you ever had? Good or bad.

I have to admit I only went to Schwartz's - twice when I was there and once on the way out for some "take home" meat I gave my sister later that day! I will go to Ben's next time I promise!
OK, so, a few more food questions then...

1. Which do you prefer, electric or gas? Which do you have?Is this a heating or cooking question? In either case, my preference would be gas, but my grad student lifestyle hasnt afforded me the choice yet - I have an electric stove. My apt is heated by some kind of odd radiant heating system from 40 years ago....in my "future house" I hope to go gas
Im wondering now - why would one prefer electric?

2. Cookbooks: do you like them? What's your favourite one? Im not a huge fan of actual cookbooks, but I love internet recipes! I just google " foodname recipe " and generally come up with an excellent easy to follow guide - sometimes with video lol. I made Beef Bulgogi this way recently. I dont like enough of a given "theme" to justify a whole cookbook on it, which might be part of my issue. I do like cooking magazines as well for tear out recipes etc.

3. Are you primarily a recipe cook, or do you like to fly by the seat of your pants? 100% recipes here, I dont trust myself enough to do without, and my lab OCD has me well trained at following instructions perfectly. Im certain this is the only reason I can cook at all with decent results

4. What's the most memorable restaurant meal you ever had? Good or bad.I dont have any long term favourites/disasters, but last month Pizza Hut finally did such a bad job I will never eat there again (*note, this is Ontario eat-in pizza hut, not the delicious Edmonton delivery Pizza Hut) when they took over an hour to make me a pizza that they then brought to me RAW. And by Raw, I mean dough not even formed into a solid yet, it was sticky and would string up. Gross. Then instead of making me a new pizza, they just reheated that one (minus the 2 slices that we had already removed/destroyed)...GROSS Server clearly hated her life as well. Needless to say, this was the first time in a long time that I actually left no tip (which is a lie, I was rude and left her a dime to make a nasty point)
Im pretty forgiving when it comes to restaurants etc...but man. Pizza Hut...every year I went there for my birthday dinner since I was 6 - this year, I had Palace Pizza instead!

Actually, I didnt do my real homework and still have an entire presentation to put together by tomorrow morning, and am doing busy experiments all day today...oops. Long day ahead for sure!
1.- Wich one is the most crazy thing that have you ever do it???? ( I mean for example, Jump in parachute, Take a Snake live, Jump in Bungee etc)Im not that adventurous/crazy, so nothing too exciting here- once I swam to an island that was further away than my swimming skills should have allowed, but that wasnt tooo risky as I had friends around etc. I showed up at the airport only 30 mins ahead of my flight last week - that was a little risky lol (I and my luggage made it, and I had 0 wait at the gate)
2.- Do you have indor plants at home?I dont...my 2 plant-eaters make that too difficult. Id like to though, and when I have more than 500 square feet/places I can put them kitties wont try to get to, I will.
3.- If you can travel in time and to meet to some historycal person WHO would be and Tell us why?...
Id like to have a chat with Queen Victoria, I wonder how hard she felt things were for her, or if she had problems with men etc. I think she was very classy, and I have lots of stamps with her on them from Canada's early days

4.- If you have the money power to move to some part of the world ( of course with your kittys) wich place would be and why.....I would move back to Toronto. It is the safest city I have ever been in, a wonderful metropolitan place, and many many people who are close to me are there.
5.- What is the thing that really anoy you on the persons.......( for example: the hypocresy, the envy etc)
People who cant read simple instructions. For example, on the bus, it says "push here to open door" on a bright yellow bar, but people stand there staring stupidly tapping the door randomly and then freaking out when the bus starts to pull away. Happens way way too often for it to be a matter of illiteracy.
6.- Are you Religious?
No
7.- Favourite Salad?
I like tomato salad! With cucumbers, mozzarella, and oil/vinegar dressing...mmmm
8.- favourite alcoholic beverage or coktail?
Im one of those people who almost NEVER drinks. I had a bud light lime in the summer I really liked. A good red wine I enjoy, but Id prefer a regular coke to any alcoholic drink any day

9.- Choose one would you prefer to watch Sunrise
or Sunset and tell us why......Sunset, because if Im up early enough for the sunrise, Im not too happy
(Note: while the grumpiness is still true, Ive been watching sunrises over a month in Edmonton as in the winter it doesnt happen until 8am or later. I HATE waking up in the dark during these months)

10.- Do you have a car? wich type is it?....
Nope: I sold my car when I moved to Edmonton, and living downtown, dont need one. I rent one occasionally when we want to go somewhere/want to do a big shop

Have a nice afternoon my friend!....

I'm enjoying your answers. Here's another set I stumbled upon -- this time a somewhat random bunch...

1. Do you like veggies? What is your favourite?

2. Are your grandparents still alive? Do you know them well?

3. When you have a 'lazy' morning, how late do you sleep in?

4. Do you drive? Do you like to or is it a necessary evil?

5. What is your first language? What others do you know - not necessarily fluently, but enough to be understood?

6. How do you like your eggs cooked?

7. What is your favourite type of movie?

8. When you go to a movie do you stay to read the credits?

9. What behaviour would you ask your cats to explain, if they could speak?
