A doberman's coat is just not quite good enough for ontario winters, and dog coats that are half-decent cost a fortune, so I made a pattern and made this double layer fleece coat for my best friends dog!

Lexxington - pretty nice model

Hard at work in my newly fenced backyard!

I'm considering selling them, I think I could make them for a lot cheaper then you buy in the store....

Zipper in the back so she can walk him on a harness

That's a wonderfully made coat!!
I've been looking at them for my big Lab X - but they are quite $$ - and I don't know if it would even fit her barrel chest.

Well done ... Yes you can make a great coat for a fraction of the cost at a pet store... I figured if I charged 10$ for a large ( ie one that would fit 65-85 dog) I would in fleece make about 5$ profit

That was the nice thing! He has a big chest too so most of the coats don't do up all the way and pull on his front legs, I was able to measure this to him!

This one cost me about $20 in material and took me about 2 hours (after I had made the pattern, but that's good forever now) I'm sure I could find cheaper sources for fleece though. I just bought it at a regular fabric store.

My friend had a single layer fleece coat for him, that he wore through in less then a month and it cost her over $50!!!!

That's a really nice coat! Etsy is always a great venue to sell handmade online, They have a pet section on there too if you really do plan to make more.

I second the Etsy idea! I know all of our great danes in the past have just had old sweetshirts cut to fit them lol! But I know my next one will need some clothing lol!

And I ADORE that Dobie! (well... any dobie for that matter) And I love the pic where he is turned around! Kinda like he is asking if his coat makes his butt look big lol!

Wow, that is a very nice coat - it looks well made, and you've put in some thoughtful features like the zipper for a harness.
Try selling them for sure! Lots of dogs need jackets in our climate.

That is awesome!
Very handsome model as well. I think you could really have something with the coat making - especially if you're willing to sell them cheaper than less quality ones that have less "accessories" like zippers for harnesses.
