White kitties
In the past 6 months or so - I've been gravitating towards torties at the shelter here, we've had soooo many lately that aren't getting adopted.

I have a soft spot for black kitties thanks to my first kitty, Katie, 16, who taught me what sweet, wonderful creatures cats are. Can't say I really have a preference otherwise.

I never thought I would have a red tabby as DH didn't like them. But he loves our girl Rusty! Dusty is a patched tabby. I love the way her red shows when she is sleeping in the sunlight. I don't really care what color the cat is. I have had tabbies, solids, tuxedos and pointed cats. I loved them all.

When I first thought about adopting a cat, I have always wanted a solid black. One of the reason is that I heard they are more difficult to get adopted because some people still think black cats give bad luck.

But I found myself very attracted to silver tabbies. I also wanted a Bengal, because of their spots, but I know it is not likely to see one at the shelters.

What did I end up with? A solid black kitty and a brown patchy tabby with a Bengal pattern belly.

I guess I'm partial to black long haired kitties because that's what Shady was but I don't think I could ever have another one because it would remind me of him. The troupe I have now are an eclectic bunch with everything from traditional orange tabby, tortie, b+w splotches, and others that I don't even know how to decribe the colors of. Each of them are stunning IMO.

I love all kitties regardless of their colouring. Abby is my first orange/white kitty, and Chynna is my first white kitty. I've had calico, torti, black, grey, tabby...pretty much all kinds.

I'm a huge fan of most colours too!

My current colour span is Brown Tortoiseshell Tabby, 2 x Red Tabby Bicolour (one low white, one high white), one tortoiseshell and white, one blue cream silver tabby bicolour and my blue silver tabby harlequin of course!!

Fave colours at the moment:

Harlequins (vans in the States) [Tales]

Red Silver Tabbies [Bart]

I am more drawn to bi-colored cats. Tuxedos seem to be my favorite. Second would be cats with colored points (i.e. Siamese). I also love orange or red tabbies, but they gotta be longhair.

Let me preface this by saying that I love all kitties regardless of their age, sex, breed, color, fur length, or personality. But, that being said, I know I'm not alone in having preferences.

As far as sex is concerned (wow, that sounded bad, but you know what I mean
), I am typically drawn to female cats. But, truthfully, that is true with all animals -- I have had male pets, but I usually prefer the girls. And, where breed is concerned, I've only ever had moggies. I do have a fondness for ragdolls (my heart
kitty during my youth was a suspected ragdoll though technically a DSH) and have always liked the look of turkish vans/angoras. The bengals, ocicats, and maus that I've seen on this site have also caught my eye and I would love to learn more about the breeds and see them in person -- I'd be honored to be owned by one at some point in my life (not anytime soon, though). And, there are some breeds that I don't think I'd ever go for. The sphynx (or other hairless breeds) for example -- they're just not an Ajay kind of cat (though I do love to see pics of them here on this site and elsewhere. Other no-goes for me would be the rexes (or the curly-coated kitties like the laperm and others), persians and exotics, orientals, the big cats, and the munchkins (I don't agree with purposely breeding them). And, again, I see beauty and uniqueness in them all (except for the munchkins -- bleh!), but they wouldn't be "my" kind of cat.

For fur length I have always loved the look of the medium and long-haired cats. But, that so, I could never see myself owning a persian. For one, while I find them endearing, strikingly beautiful, and interesting, I am just not in love with their smushy faces. I love them from afar, but they wouldn't be the right cat for me. And, until recently when I adopted my DMH/DLH, Cassidy, I have never had anything but short-haired kitties. But I do love the look of the longer-haired cats and have found that I enjoy the bonding that daily grooming brings (and I find it to be stress-relieving and even relaxing). I could definitely see myself continue to have cats with longer fur, but, don't get me wrong, the little sleek-furred cats are gorgeous and special too!

Color, color, color. This one's hard. I've always immediately been attracted to calicos and torties (including the dilute calicos, torbies, and patch tabbies). My Em is a tortie and she's just so cute -- I love how they're all so unique. I have also always loved ginger kitties. And, again, my girl Cass comes into play as she is a ginger and white tabby. The deeper red tabbies are also so beautiful (and the buffs too
). The "typical" tabbies have never been my faves (don't tell my brown tabby and white girl, Delaney
), but I am often stricken by how pretty the true silver tabbies are. I'm a big fan of the tuxedoes (including the grey and white bicolors) and van patterns, but don't outright love some of the pointed colors (a seal point, for example, just doesn't do anything for me). And, while I find black cats stunning, they've never stood out to me. In fact, I'm not automatically drawn to solid colors. I like the individuality of the patterned cats, but the blue-eyed white cats do hold a special place in my heart. I could seriously go on for forever, but, lucky for you, I won't
.

But, above all, for me, personality trumps everything else. And, after all, almost all of my cats have chosen me and I automatically have found them to be the most adorable and gorgeous kitties to ever exist
. I guess it's really true when they say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Obviously from my cat pics you can see I have a thing for Tuxedo's.
True tuxes also, not just b&w cats.
My first kitty love was a tux which probably has something to do with it. Also something about their purrsonalities. They can be very regal yet know how to have fun and are affectionate.

Red or yellow tabbies just make my heart go pitter patter. I love my gray tabby girls, and my solid white Pearl, but Scooter is cuter. He is a red tabby.
I would love to have another yellow tabby boy someday. My dear little Fred was a yellow tabby.

Red boys are my favorite. As you say I've loved them all, and Ootay (rb 5/09) and I were especially bonded because of all the care she needed, but then so was Bibbs (rb 3/05) before her, but I LOVE Red Boys. I love the red girlies, too, but since we have to choose here, it's Red Boys.

I don't have just one. My favs are Reds, Calicos, Chocolates, Silvers.

My least favorites are blue tabbies and blue-creams. My first cat was a blue tabby/white but I loved him for his personality and intelligence. Not necessarily for his coat color. Blues don't seem to be an attractive color to me - its not flashy and dominate/bright.

truth: I love them all!...but if I had to pick...black, than tortie/calico/patched tabby.

Colors I have had: tabby, greyy tortie, maramalade (all in childhood) black, white, tux(RIP Scratch), tortie, black(RIP Scree), long hair black, and now Autumn..a tabby/patch/calico.

I've allways wanted a grey and a pointed, but firmly belive the cat picks the person
color is allmost insignificant
