Which coat color attracts you the most?

All our furbabies are precious of course, but do you find yourself attracted to a particular cat coat color or pattern more than others? Or do you have no preference?

I know that many of our feline companions come into our lives through accident or chance. And I like to believe that I go for purr-sonality first, but I find myself gravitating to the calicoes and patch tabbies. Is there a color or perhaps a breed that your cat relationship revolves around? Have you lived with a dynasty of orange tabbies or a collection of seal points?

Aya my current cat is a mike or calico. Our last two family cats (Midori and Gracie) that I selected from the local HS were both patch/calico tabbies. Aside from gender, I have no idea why I always wind up with the 3 color females. Maybe its the torti-tude? or calico-tude thing?

I have always thought meezers (siamese colored/pointed cats) were gorgeous in all varieties. Something about the blue eyes and dark points was just really attractive to me. However, I was under the impression that they were fairly rare and it would be hard to find one. When I started looking for a kitten, I found Lua right away. She's a medium hair seal point. I think she's simply gorgeous. Then when I decided she needed a buddy, I found a kitten on the side of the road next to her dead mamma. I had to keep her, and it was just icing on the cake that she's a lynx point (siamese points with tabby color).

I live with a dynasty of red tabbies right now!

But I also have a strong bond with gray cats.

Brown or red medium-haired tabbies

I luvs me orange kittehs. However, I've never owned one. Right now I have a brown patched with white, a brown mackerel with white and and a tuxedo. Far cry from a marmalade cat!

Have always had a black cat

I've always had a fondness for solid colors.

My eye isn't attracted so much to coat color as it is to body shape and coat length. I find the long, lean cats, with the medium length fur, to be the ones I want to connect with the most.

That said, none of my cats were "chosen" - they're all ex-ferals I trapped, socialized and then failed to give up for adoption. Three have the long, lean body shape with medium-length fur, but my two favorites are, hands-down, the boys; one of whom is long while the other is stocky with short fur. They are my favs because they love me with a crazy affection I find irresistible. Allen drools when I rub his face and fights with me when I ask him to leave my lap, and Spencer insists upon sleeping on my pillow with his nose a whisker's breath from mine at night.

Same here, especially black.

As far as color goes I love black cats, and solid colors in general. For patterns I love the black spotted tabbies where it looks like they are almost black with black spots. I also really like pointed cats, and blue-eyed cats.
Go figure, I ended up with mostly brown tabbies with white paws! (rescued as feral kittens so I didn't 'choose' the colors.)

mackerel tabbies & tortoiseshells (because both remind me of childhood cats)


feeling sentimental, i typed in "gray tortoiseshell cat" into google and i found a pic of a cat who reminds me of Ashlie, a family cat from the 1980's the looks are similar - although Ashlie didn't have aqua eyes like this pic; also, Ashlie's muzzle wasn't as forward, but she did have an ear flaw like this pic

Me too! I have two shorthair torties and I just love their colorings

The blue from Russian Blues and British Short Hair are just stunning to me

I can't pick just one, but I do have a top 3...okay, 4 - in no particular order.

Solid black, classic tabby, orange & white, color point.

Though someone brought up in interesting point about coat length. I really love short hair black kitties, and I really only love medium-long hair white kitties. I like medium-long hair best on orange & white cats, and short hair on a classic tabby.

I love the russian blue and that is why I picked Sasha.
I also always wanted a blue eyed cat and my sphynx Wrinkles has blue eyes. I love siaese cats also.
I have 3 Tuxedo cats right now but it was not planned that way.
I do love the black and white cats though also.
My favorite cats are sphynx.

I like all white cats, and all black cats. I think it is just my eye, but I find them so beautiful. My Calico is giving me the stink eye while I write this, lol.
My cats have all been Calico, except for the grey tabby cat, MaouMaou.
I am fond of the multicolored kitties.

I have a thing for classic silver tabbies!

I am drawn to white paws and tuxedo markings. One day I will have a tuxedo grey tabby. I also love orange, solid black and color points. I am also draw to cats with longer hair. Never mind that three of mine are short haired,LOL.

Calico females, preference to large color spots and lots of white, and black-and-white males. I like a guy in a tuxedo . I'm a real sucker for those color patterns. I have 3 tuxedo males, LOL.

I also prefer the look of shortish hair on the body, long hair on the tail, like a Balinese. I don't like the all-over fluffy Persian types as much.
