Cheetah's stomach was so huge last night, I removed the always available dry food last night.

I woke up this morning, both kitties were waiting at my door for their breakfast.

I gave Cheetah 1.5 oz of turkey baby food, and he finished in 30 seconds and was asking for more.

I gave Panther about 1 oz of Science Hill's diet Turkey and Giblets, and he did not finish it.

I put down a bowl of dry food and Cheetah immediately ate about 1/8 cup of it. I removed the bowl then because I am afraid he will over-eat. Panther ate a few bites of the dry food.

Now I have Cheetah always want to eat a lot more then he should at one time and Panther will only eat whenever he is hungry, little by little.

Yay!! We have tootsie rolls in the house, probably Panther's.

We also have a brown dough-like stool in the house, probably Cheetah's.

Thank you everyone. I will keep monitoring for a few days before making any chances to their food again.

One thing to note, Cheetah was discovered chewing duck bones he found in the trash last night. I hope this indicates he will be fine with raw diet one day when we decided to switch.

As kittens, they should eat all they want... You might want to restrict the selection, but not the quantity they eat - they should eat as they wish.
I think the best way to accomplish that is dry food always available, wet food 2-3x/day.

I have been having dry food available to them, but Cheetah's huge belly worries me. He will be so full that he is unwilling to move and play. That it why I took the food away when his belly is big and hard like a ready to expose balloon. That happens about 1 hour when needed, not even daily.

I also heard that once they are neutered, I should be aware of the amount they eat. They are both neutered at 2 mos of age at the shelter.

No... only when they are over 1yr old... Kittens should have all they want to eat - that is important...
About Cheetah's belly, maybe you need to talk to the vet about it...
Also, a way to slow them down while eating (dry food) is to place a baseball or another ball you have at home in the food plate - that way they need to work around it, and eat slower... Something like this also works.

I talked to the vet about Cheetah's belly. He said this is typical with kitties with parasites, thus gave him deworming medicine.

I will ask the vet about it again this week.

Panther always have hard tootsie roll like stool but will have the last 2 drops of it soft, like butter press cookie dough like, is that normal?

Cheetah has been doing a lot better. I have been giving him a teaspoon of pumpkin everyday and he has done well on it. Not necessarily tootsie rolls, but pretty close.

Thank you all for your help.

Hi all, I've been reading about Cheetah & Panther and they honestly me giggle. What gorgeous characters! I thought I'd post my question here just in case anyone had some feedback. My 9month old has reduced stools, in smaller pieces, medium brown and firm but soft (not too hard). Not much smell either. She now poops once every 24-36 hours. Is this all normal? She does not appear to be straining. Some background to her food type is below if that helps.

(Food background: I've recently switched to having wet/canned food as her main meals with only a tiny bit of kibble on working days between meals. She was previously on Wellness Complete kitten health dry for 1 meal, them Wellness kitten formula canned for the 2nd meal. However after reading about urinary issues surrounding Wellness and dry food, I've recently switched both meals to mostly canned food (sometimes raw). I've changed brands to Holistic Select which is a premium canned food (limited grain not grain-free as kitty gets constipated on grain free).

Really appreciate any feedback. Thank you in advance
