I know this is a persian...has anyone ever seen a salt/pepper persian. He was found on the street. All matted and filthy, skinney as a twig. I bathed him ( he loved the warm water) took him to the vet...he said he was healthy...no fleas, tick, worms. I cleaned him completly up, he stunk terrible. He is sweet as pie, excellent nature. He needs to be neutered which is gonna get done ASAP!! Ok here is my question..he has a wet mouth not really drooling, but it has an odor..his teeth look like they need to be cleaned terrible. I am going to make an appt to do that to..but I do not want to make him sick with so much going on. Are persians prone to any diseases?? So far, he is really cool with my other cats..staying at a distance but curious. Vet says he is a few years old but i have the feeling he is older like 5-6 by the way his teeth look. here is a few pics, he is beautiful!!!!

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
I don't know about persians, there are many here that do. But have you tried to find his former owner? Sounds like a lost kitty, not a tossed kitty.

Yes we tried to do that..no one responded
The person that called on him to get picke dup said he was roaming around for several weeks...so I just figured he needed some TLC right now!!

He's gorgeous! I would have the teeth cleaned when he's snipped. That way, he only has to go under once and only one trip to the vet.

My 15 month old was just diagnosed with periodontal disease. He's really still a kitten! I guess you can't always judge by what shape their teeth are in. I've had this little guy since he was 7 weeks old, and although I neglectfully haven't been brushing my cat's teeth (I will now) he has had vet care and good nutrition. I guess he just had bad genes.

Best to only put him through the anesthesia, etc. once if you can. He's absolutely beautiful!

First of, what a beauty!!
Teeth condition is not always a good indication of age - Bugsy has gingivitis, and his teeth are awful, in spite of the young age...
