Tazzy the Maine Coon

Thread Starter
Hi I'm new to this site but for a very sad reason. I have to find a good home for my tazzy. He's a silver tip male 10 years old, pure maine coon.
He's been neurtered and declawed when he was a baby. He has the chin problem that I've been reading about on this sight, and he's under the care of a vet from Greylock Animal Hospital in N. Adams Ma (also where I live.)
He's not a lover(cuddly) kind of a loner. He's been aggressive with me since he's been sick but now he just won't let us near him at all. I would love to see him go to a good home where he might be happeir than he is here. If anyone would like to give him a good home please contact me. We are located in the Berkshires(north Adams MA) not far from Williams College or MCLA.

Have you contacted his breeder? Even 10 years on I'd take back one of my babies.

What is wrong with him, and why are you giving him away? Why is he at the vet? Was he just dropped off there? What is the Chin problem you are talking about? Acne?

This cat has been with you for 10 years... poor thing should be family by now.
If he is aggressive, it could be that he is in pain.

I have 3 cats that are way over 10 years old. They tend to want their own space when they reach their golden years. I'm sure they have aches and pains just like we do when we get into our senior years. Why is your cat at the vet? What is he sick with? Why would you want to get rid of your cat after 10 years because he is sick? As stated in above post he should be a cherished part of your family after 10 years.

Vibes for your cat that he gets a secure loving home for the rest of his life

You might try contacting this group for help. They've successfully placed many pure bred Maine Coon's and mixes.

My suggestion would be to take him back to the vet that is presently treating him.

He may be aggressive because of being sick. A change in behavior is a sign of illness.

What makes you THINK he is unhappy with the only home and family he has ever known at 10 years old. He will be stressed even more to leave his family and that alone could make his health worse.

Talk to your vet about his health and how that affects his behavior. There may be something the vet can do to help him feel better.

I completely agree with this point. Honestly, I can only see his health becoming worse if he were put through the traumatic stress of being in a new home with strangers at this point...not an ideal situation for a cat to get better, IMO.

I hope you are able to keep him and work things out. Good luck!
