Ally's first birthday is coming up. While I don't know her exact DOB, the estimated age the emergency vet gave me was about 4-5 weeks old, back on New Year's Day, which puts her birthday right around Thanksgiving. So, I decided ultimately to celebrate her birthday on T-day, which I think is kind of fitting despite it being ridiculously corny.

What do people do for cats on their birthday? My dog always gets something from the doggy bakery, but I have no ideas for Ally and I don't want to give her something that will make her sick.

Mine all get a few new toys and a 'cake' made from wet food. They are raw fed so the wet is something different and tasty.

It's an incredibly appropriate birthdate for your little girl! Best wishes to you all!

I think its a fine birthday. How about giving her some turkey? I have never had a cat refuse turkey.

We don't know when any of our cats were born, so we celebrate their "Gotcha" day - the day we brought them inside. We give each kitty their favorite food that they're not normally allowed to have. For Tuxedo, it's shrimp. For Flowerbelle, it's chicken. For Spooky, it's turkey. For Ming Loy, Billy and Shelly, it's steak. For Lazlo, it's a lick of butter and a new catnip toy. He's allowed to have catnip, of course, but he loves catnip sooooo much, it seems fitting since he doesn't get to "eat" the butter.

Jamie gets one of his favorite people foods - crabmeat, shrimp, calamari, etc.. Miezi gets cheese on her gotcha day, and a big tin of cheese-flavored treats.

Ally and I got back on Saturday. People in the airplane and airport complimented her on how well behaved she was. She was a little trooper.
She's a little stressed out back in her old home. After being separated from Ollie for 3 weeks (longer than I ever imagined it would be), they had a rough time getting back together. There was hissing and a little bit of mild fighting. They're good now. I've even caught them snuggling once or twice. I'm sure by the end of another week, they'll be back to normal. Ollie was supposedly happy the whole time though. Ollie has to be the happiest cat ever born. He was apparently born permanently hard-wired to be happy. I envy him!

Anyways, in general they're good. I built them a mega Kitty City building upon the Kitty City I brought home with me. It's massive now, so they have fun with that. The only downsides for them is that the electric litter box and electric fountain are up north. I wanted to take the fountain with me, but I didn't have room. They're using feeders. I might get a second fountain if it becomes apparent they really want it back. For litter I'm scooping and using a Litter Locker. Not convenient for me, but at least with the Litter Locker I can scoop a few times each day so it's always clean for them.

I've gone through 2 Da Birds now.
They both love them.

Is it safe? By turkey you mean from the official T-Bird on T-Day?

Well, I guess if you give Spooky turkey then it's safe. Maybe I'll give her some turkey.

I was thinking though. Ally gets cold easily. I think I should get her a sweater for her birthday (or just get her one period). I don't know where to get one that isn't just for show though.

As you already found out, yes turkey is safe...... just no seasonings.

For a sweater for Ally what I'd do, is go into the childrens department of a store.....find a little sweater you think would fit and there you go
You might have to stretch out the neckhole or cuffs, but it works and is much cheaper than "animal" clothing.

I have no other suggestions bout her birthday aside from whats already been suggested. (toys or treats)

I absolutely LOVE the little cake idea.....Here's a pic of someone elses bday cake: http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...light=birthday

Here's another idea: http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...light=birthday (personalised m&ms...of course they weren't for the kitty)
