So when I went to pick up some food for Milo today from Petco, I saw they had just gotten in a new shipment of collars. I bought a blue break-away one that I thought suited him very well.

When I got home I put the collar on him. Thankfully, he's not freaking out at all, except in an odd way.

He keeps trying to play with the tiny bell on it. He'll whirl around in circles, trying to get at that bell. Other than that the collar isn't bothering him at all. It looks rather dashing on him.

Should I take the bell off? He's almost obsessing over it, lol.

Trapped in the catroom! ;o)
I dont use collars with bells because mine go nuts with them on. They will start moving and the jingling starts and then they go bonkers. I just bought new collars for mine the boys have blue ones with stars on them and GiGi has a pink one with strawberries on it. They were on clearance at WalMart for one buck!

I took the bell off because *I* was going crazy with the ringing
Wasn't the original purpose of the bells on collars to alert birds when kitties were outside? If they're indoor kitties, they probably don't need it then.

The bell does come in use sometimes. My roomate had issues with him sneaking into his room and dumping over the dirt in the pots of his plants. Milo doesn't eat the plants in it, he just loves looking in flower pots and dumping them over, then rolling in the dirt for fun

Anyway, the bell is useful because it alerts us to when Milo is sneaking to his room. He can't be sneaky anymore. Although...I can see how it will drive me crazy really quick.

I use it on an indoor cat because I am worried with 4 people going in and out of the house, plus my roommate have a couple of guests, that he might escape. His name and my phone number I sewed into the back of the collar, so it's a useful identification piece until I can get enough money to get him microchipped.

But I'm glad that the collar is no bother to him.

I stopped using collars when Zoey turned up allergic to most of the dyes...

I took the bells off the collars because I was afraid my kitties would manage to chew them off and then swallow them. They didn't do any good anyway. Shareena learned how to run through the house at full speed without ringing the bell.

Their ears are sooo sensitive - I'd remove the noisy thing.

Yeah, I already took the thing off. In 5 hours it managed to bug the crap out of me.

But he's taking to the collar just fine. I feel safer having it on him as an identification piece, since we go to and from the apartment to class frequently, and sometimes my roommates and us have people over. If he accidentally gets out, at least there is something that identifies him until I have the resources to get him microchipped.

I am just paranoid about him getting out, panicked, and lost. It's happened to friends and family members before, and I just want him to have a way to get back to me. Luckily my mom taught me the trick of sewing letters, so his name plus my phone # are there.

I just could not stand him pawing at that bell. He kept on doing it for fun apparently, or either he was showing me in a strange way that the bell bothered him.

I take the bells off. Sassy isn't big enough for her collar yet. The smalest I could find was too big. I still need to get collars and tags for Mia and Sabrina.
