My kitty socks has had health problems for a while. Generally, he shows NO signs of discomfort or illness, but his skin is REALLY gross. He has scabs all over his skin. He does sneeze quite frequently, but is otherwise happy. There has been only one change in his normal behavior, and that is that he is less skittish and more lovey-dovey (but I think that's more from me moving in).

I am planning on a vet visit VERY soon. I can't cover the full cost, but I'm going to call around to different vets and see if I can get on a payment plan. Has anyone had any experiences with this? Do you know what it could be?

Our other cats are completely unaffected by it.

Thanks for any help!

Possibly a food allergy but there's really no way to know without a vet visit. If you had scabs all over your skin would you be comfortable and happy? He is likely VERY uncomfortable. Please get him to a vet ASAP.

Oh dear, please shop quickly for a vet. He needs attention. Care Credit is a way to deal with vet bills. Your vet should be able to give you info. You don't have to pay at the time, but over time.

But, I can't imagine he is comfortable. Cats are notorius for hiding pain.

I don't think it is a food allergy, but that is a good point. Their food ends up being changed with every bag, but there could be a common ingredient that he is allergic to.

I am thinking there could be a possible mite thing on him. My dad's cats skin like this from fleas.

I am taking him to the vet. Calling around tomorrow on my day off. He will hopefully be able to get in somewhere by next week.

I was just wondering if anyone else had ever had a similar issue with any of their cats!

You really should not change their food like that. It can cause awful stomach problems and diarrhea. Food should be changed gradually and mixed new with old over a matter of weeks.
