Sarah, my heart is breaking for you all!
I cannot imagine going through that with such a young cat, but the fact that you can't be with her right now must be so incredibly painful!

Lots of vibes that your girl beats the odds, gets better, and lives a good long time!

This is a reminder to everyone to seriously consider pet insurance. Stumpy is an inside cat, healthy as can be, and almost overnight has come down with this. It's going to be $2000+ most likely for her care, and I'm wishing more than anything that we had have gotten pet insurance for our girls.

Will your vet do a payment plan? Usually if you've spent alot of money at the vets, they will work with you.

I am so sorry, I hope she gets well soon.

Luckily we have savings to cover it, so that's fine, but I still wish we'd had pet insurance. I feel like some of my decisions are going to have the cost aspect in the back of my mind when making them.

I know how that goes. I just try to keep in mind that some of my previous cats died because I was raised that money comes first, cat comes second. So now I always have that in mind and it helps me make the right decisions - cat comes first, screw money. Of course, that doesn't always work either. It's hard going against something that was ingrained in you since birth.

They should be calling any minute with an update, I'm just sitting by the phone. If they don't call in the next 10 minutes or so I'll call them.

I just called them, and Stumpy went ok through the night. They were able to take her out of the oxygen tank long enough to do an x-ray, and do some bloodwork, but she still needs to stay in there to really be able to breathe properly.

They're waiting for the rest of the results to come back and will call again when they know more.

I got to talk to Stumpy on the phone, so I feel a bit better having talked to her and assure her that daddy will be home soon, and that we love her.

I'm sorry to see this thread Sarah. Not being able to be there with Stumpy has to be tough.
I hope everything turns out ok for your girl.

I was once told by a vet that cats in particular have an amazing way of healing. She is young, she has that on her side. Keep hope alive.
We are all thinking of you. Sending those famous TCS vibes

I feel for you being so far away! Sending you vibes too.

We're waiting on creatinine levels at the moment. At the moment it looks as though her kidney is failing from not handling the medication
If the creatinine levels are high, then it means they can't continue to treat her. And unfortunately that means the most humane thing will be to euthanise her. Earliest flight hubby can get back is tomorrow, which has him back there on Friday night, so he wouldn't be able to see her until Saturday, and if her kidneys are failing, I couldn't prolong her suffering another 3 days - if she would even survive that long without any treatment.

My wonderful neighbour is dropping in on her this afternoon to visit, so at least she has a familiar face there - she loves my neighbour.

48 hours ago, she just didn't want to eat, 24 hours ago, she was really lethargic and just heading off to the vet, and now, we're discussing euthanasia
