Those are some lovely Turkish Van's eveyone!!!
I thought I'd post a few pictures of my Turkish Angora, Isabella, for reference!

My Isabella is an odd-eyed Turkish Angora.
Here are a few pictures of her (Her adoption story is on the link near my screen name.

The orange kitty is her newest obsession (you put it in the microwave and then they sleep with it like a heating pad)

Isabella has one blue eye & one amber-green eye

Isabella after her full coat developed
(takes about two years for a Turkish Angora)

If you look close, you can see the typical TA tufts of fur on her ears and toes

Isabella has the typical Turkish Angora tail...insanely fluffy! (she was irritated at this point because I kept taking her picture)

In my experience, Turkish Angoras get along well with other kitties!

Very pretty. Out of curiosity, do you know if she's deaf on the side with the blue eye? I've heard that's fairly common in white cats with mixed eyes.

Thankyou!
To answer your question, it's actually very common in cats and dogs with mixed eye colors to be deaf on the side that is blue. Isabella had a hearing test done when she was younger though and the vet said all is well.
In the future if you ever decide to adopt a mixed-eye kitty you can always have the vet do a hearing test to check for any signs of hearing loss. That being said, many pets who are deaf or partially deaf function wonderfully in homes!

She's actually the most hardy out of all of my cats health wise, so for whatever it's worth, I think TA's are pretty healthy kitties if they're cared for properly
(For her that includes regular brushing, teeth brushing, ear cleanings, yearly shots/checkup & the occassional bath) She actually sheds less than my short hair kitties if you can believe it (Turkish Angoras's only have one coat vs. the typical 2-3 layer coats in other pretty long hair kitties like Persians)

I definitely believe it. Thufir sheds less than all of my other kitties even though he probably has more fur than the other 3 combined. He looks a lot like Isabella except for the fact both eyes are blue and he has cream colored highlights. When I have him shaved down, his back is almost completely white, but it gets darker as it grows in.

And I definitely wouldn't be scared off by a kitty who was deaf in one ear. It doesn't seem like a very big handicap in any case. I have a kitty who is nearly blind and he still manages to get around pretty well and even hold his own in the occasional wrestling match.

How did she become part of your family?
a stray feral cat came to our house last year and had 4 kittens, delilha was one of them.
my wife fell in love with her, we had just lost our cat "penelope" who we had for 18 years.
we found all of the kittens good homes, there was one more turkish van, a male and a black kitten and one bob tail.
delilha turned out to be a daddys girl from day one.
she is so intellignet, funny, and loves water. she jumps in the bath tub all the time and swims around.
she is a delight to have in the house.
we are so glad we got her. i did not know she was a turkish van until i saw a program on the discovery channel about them.
if anything ever happens to her (i pray not for a long long time), we will get another turkish van. they are beautiful cats and everyone compliaments us how pretty she is.
thanks for asking.
