Sorry to ask but

I can't find anything in the sticky to help.

My cat started peeing little puddles in the dining room. I took him to the vet. No infection, just irritation. Per the vet, due to something upsetting him. ??I don't have a clue what, nothing has changed.

He has also pooped in the dining room. It is a vinyl floor. I thought it was where my little dog was going. I have cleaned it, sprayed it with Out, to no avail. He also peed on a loveseat in there. Also in a box of stuff with a dog food bag on top.

My biggest question, how long can he go without going? I have not found any urine or poo in the litter or the house for a couple days. I think if he pooed I would smell it. He is too timid to go outside even tho he wants out.

I am at my witts end.

Have you changed litter or food? Have you moved the litter box? Do you have a different routine? Has their been a visitor in the house? Have you noticed any new animals wandering in the area? Has the weather changed? Have you just moved? Do you have new furniture? Did you rearrange the furniture?

All of these things can cause stress induced incontinence. Did your vet do a urinalysis or just guess? If he didn't do a urinalysis, I'd ask for one.

To help reduce stress, you might want to try a feliway diffuser. This helped with my girl when we first moved in and she was eliminating in inappropriate places.

If your male cat has not gone pee for "a couple of days" he is at risk of death and you must get him to a vet immediately.

Either he is peeing somewhere and you haven't found it, or his urine is backing up into his system creating a toxicity that will kill him. This usually takes 24 - 48 hours.

The vet found no crystals in his urine? These can create pain or blockages.

You need to purchase a black light to find where he has been peeing, or he really does need to get to a vet ASAP. In the dark, urine will show up as orange when you use a black light to go through your home.
