'Tis the season for the stores to start playing Christmas music!

Working in a retail store - one day into the Christmas music & it's already driving me nuts.

Only 46 more days until Christmas.

Bah humbug!

Ack...I used to work in retail and the Christmas music drove me nuts too...they don't even play good versions of the songs, do they.

Lots of luck in making it to the actual holiday. I do think they turn that stuff on waaaay to early now, but them our town has thier Santa Clause parade this coming weekend...

Last year around this time I was working in a store that constantly had Coldplay's viva la vida playing at least once every 45 minutes. Even when I was there for other reasons I heard that stupid song over and over. I've calculated it up to having heard it ~998 times over a 4 month period.
... so it could be worse, maybe.

Can't take Christmas music anymore. I am 57, I have heard Jingle Bells since I was in the womb! Enough already!

OMG - you folks haven't even had your Thanksgiving yet!

Our neighbour put his outdoor lights up this past weekend but they don't turn them on yet. We have to wait for the soffit and eavestroughing guy to do his thing for us before we can put up any lights.

One local radio station has been playing christmas music for over 10 day now. Luckily the store owners glady changed the station!

Not that many times... I wouldn't want to hear any band or song that many times, no matter how much I loved them.
Sometimes (ok, most of the time) people need some variety.

Any chance, that's if there's a disc these Christmas tunes are playing from over the PA, that you could sneak back there and flip it to Christmas song parodies?

While at the local WallyWorld last year I heard Jeff Foxworthy's Redneck 12 days of Christmas.

This year I am happy there is christmas music on the radio now!

But I feel your pain..... I literally hated christmas by the time it arrived when I worked in retail!! I mean, they really shouldn't start playing it until after thanksgiving at least...

Having worked retail I feel your pain.
I don't celebrate xmas but I found the music growing on me. I like the really really bad ones too.
Like Wham: last xmas I gave you my heart (or whatever its called
) and the Beatles? or just Paul McCartney? : Simply having a wonderful xmas time. I've heard them so much they are now a part of me.

The stores start playing it earlier every year. They want consumers to get in the mood to spend spend spend. Well, guess what? It has the opposite effect on me, I can't wait to get OUT of any store playing it before about mid December.

I worked retail for many many years, 4 of those were in a mall. Our store didn't pipe music in, but the mall itself did starting on black Friday. We couldn't hear it in our store though, because we were lucky enough (said dripping with sarcasm) to have the choo-choo train with the loud bell to give the kids rides, and ring the bell, set up right in front of our store every year. I would have prefered to hear the same loop of songs over and over instead of "DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING..." you get the idea. All day, every day, neverending. We were in an alcove of the mall so it echoed quite nicley. You could barely hear yourself thinking "Shut that *cuss words* bell up!!!!"
So, count your blessing, there are worse things than the endless loop of Christmas music! (I have dealt with that too)
