Advice please?

Hi, my husband and I just picked up a new cat at the Humane Society the other day. She is four years old and had been there for about a year. She is in good health and seems to be right at home, but every time we leave the apartment, even for a few minutes, she stands at the front door and meows loudly - we can hear her down the hall as we approach. We also have an eight year old cat who is having a bit of a hard time adjusting, but the new cat doesn't appear to be bothered. She is silent as the grave when someone is nearby. I'm sure my neighbors won't appreciate her yowling all day. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Are you sure she would keep crying? I used to have one who would sit at the door and cry when I left for work, but the crying would stop after about 5 minutes. If that's the case at least it won't be too annoying for your neighbors. Anyway, if the two of your cats were better friends, that might make her separation from you easier. There's LOTS of advice on here for introducing cats to each other so just browse around. Something else that might work is distracting her right before you walk out the door. Maybe a handful of her favorite treats so she is busy eating when you walk out. This might distact her so she never starts crying in the first place. Good Luck!
