I'm madly passionate about cheetahs, but hey, they aren't exactly media darlings in the world of Big Cats. Which is why I was embarassed that an absolute classic flew totally under my radar in 2005, and I discovered it on the rental shelves this weekend.
It's called "Duma", and if you haven't seen it, I don't want to give anything away; because I went into watching it pretty much blind, and was more than a bit shocked that it wasn't your typical "exploit your love of animals by putting it constantly in peril and making you hate humanity" animal movie. It took turns that I never saw coming. Though the cheetah takes center stage, this is a human interest picture; and while it's not a kids movie, it is a movie that can - and should - be watched by all ages. I cried hysterically at the end, but it was a good cry, for the right reasons.
I'm a pretty discerning movie viewer (i.e., I hate most everything released lately), but I would put this in my Top 5 of all time. Just an awesome film.
Here's a link, if you want to investigate further.
