My foster dog is on some pills for a lung infection. It is called "Orbax".
She has one per day in the mornings.Well I was cracking them in half and sticking it in canned food for her.

Today I was informed (by mom) that when you crack some meds in half they do not work...I wondered if anyone knew about this one? Does it affect this pill?

Well this stuff seems similar to Baytril - same family I think.

I think it is safe to split them as they look scored online. Some pills have a coating that they say you can't split them because the coating has to do with the way the medication releases.

Thank you.
I actually got an answer from the dog forum I am in,so I am good.
I do not know a whole lot about the different meds, except what I am told...so I feel sort of stupid asking. But I have my answer now and feel much better.

BTW mom did do a vet assistant course a few yrs ago,so I wasn't questioning her.I just never heard of this before. But now I know!

Not a dumb question... It can be a life altering one if that med was one that increased or decreased potency
