Last April, I found a cat outside my workplace. The place is a natural area (Columbia Slough) next to the office park where I worked. It was raining buckets. I heard a VERY loud meowing. I though coyotes had a cat or cats were about to mate. It was that loud.
Turns out it was a pretty little female cat hiding under my car on the last three square inches of dry pavement available. I knelt down and spoke to her - she talked back - loudly! She was not fond of the rain
She finally came out, wove through and around my legs and snuggled when I picked her up. To make a long story short, I took her to my brother and SIL's home. I just couldn't take her to my home with Sebastian being ill.
I found out that they had never even taken her in to be checked for a chip. I just assumed they would. They have 6 other cats. A couple months ago, I took her in, no chip. She appears to be about 2 or 3 years old. She has not had a heat cycle, they say, so they assume she is spayed.
(the above is what I posted a couple of weeks ago)
Today, I took her to the vet. The vet said she is about a year old. Told the vet she was with my brother for the past 7 months and was this size then. Vet said she was about 1 1/2 yrs old
Anyway, she is young. She is somewhere between Daphne and Galahad in age.
She is very sweet but managed to have an attitude at the vet. She would not let them shave her tummy to check for a spay scar. Brother says she has not been in heat but if she was so young when she was found, would she have been spayed? I guess I'll find out.
They have been calling her Amber for her large, dak gold eyes. They really are beautiful. I just don't like the name Amber for her. Knew someone with that name - don't want to remember that person each time I talk to this kitty. I have such a difficult time with names!
She is FIV/FELV negative
, just received her shots and is now in my bedroom getting used to things. She makes a lot of noise; hissing a bit and growling a lot but pushes her head into my hands for scritches. She's a tough cookie
At brother's house, there are 3 other females. Two made this kitty a punching bag. They terrorized her. They say she basically lived on the fridge and the bookcase, running downstairs to grab a quick bite when she thought the other cats were elsewhere.
Hopefully, things will be different here. I will take awhile to introduce because I want them all to get along as well as possible.
Here she is
Curled up in the highest corner she could find.
Cleaning off the yucky vet stuff
She has only been here about a half hour but is showing interest in the laser light
