Abandoned cat Update

Thread Starter
Today has a been a great day for the little kittie we found in the attic. He seems really happy (and he is a he... lol). Hes been peeing at every feeding, and today we finally got him to poo. He's eating around 5 to 7mL at feedings, today he's been eating more than normal. He's finally getting the hang of the bottle and seems to enjoy it now.

Im curious if anyone can help me with his age. We finally got a weight on him, and hes 9.05oz Still no pictures sorry. I will get them as soon as possible.

Without a picture it's really hard to say. Even with a picture it can be hard to tell.

When we found Jax, we estimated his age to be about 5 days old. He weighed 7 ounces and his eyes were still closed. They say kittens open their eyes anywhere from 5 to 7 days old. Jax's eyes were completely opened at around the 10 day mark. By day 10 he weighed 9 ounces and by 3 weeks he was 15 ounces.

I hope that helps. Here is my thread about Jax, maybe you can look at the pictures and it might help you with the age of your baby.

a little rule of thumb that we go by in the vet field is a healthy kitten weighs about 1 lb for every month old. example 4 weeks - 1 lb, 8 weeks - 2 lbs. My Sloth broke that rule as a bottle baby....at 5 weeks he was already 1.5lbs he was a piggy. I know most kittens found as strays are not "healthy" weight but after being bottle fed for a few days they should be putting the weight on and conforming to the "rule". I would recommend tracking a kittens weight for the first 8 weeks of their life (or for as long as they are willing to sit still on the scale), weighing every morning before feeding to make sure they are growing. Good luck with the little guy!

My son found Blossom at about 3 weeks old & her teeth were just like little knubs that didn't hurt when she bit down.
