The lady from the animal shelter called today. The little kitty Ringo I paid to adopt "crashed" last night and was near dead by the time the foster family got him to the vet. His vet bills are going to be expensive and she called to ask if we wanted to pay for all his expenses. I called hubby and he said no. He can't justify spending that kind of money on a cat that we haven't even met yet. There is another family that applied for him right after I did that is going to pay for all his care. So poor little Ringo will not be coming home with me. She did say she had two more Siamese male and female that came in today and she is going to put the male on hold for me and send me a picture. I hope he is as cute and sweet as Ringo. I have already paid the $100.00 adoption fee. I don't know what to do. If I don't like this other kitty as much do I ask for a refund or just keep waiting until the next "right one" to come along?

I am so sad as I really wanted Ringo, but can't afford several thousand dollars in vet bills at this point. Hubby said if he was already part of the family it would be different.

This is a picture of the new kitty. I had already fallen in love with Ringo so this one doesn't seem as cute, plus he looks even less Siamese than Ringo, but I don't know.

Pretend he is siamese of the old type, so he shall surely do OK!

Luck in all this there were good people willing to pay for Ringo´s vet and medicine bills. Thrice hurray for them! And lets send Ringo and his new parents some really good vibes!

Marinewife, Good luck with your new household member!

I understand your dismay, but since you never met Ringo you don't know for sure if the chemistry was right anyway. I suggest you go in and meet the new little baby and see if sparks fly. If he's not the right match there are plenty of others who need forever homes!

(I'm so happy to hear Ringo does have a family who can take his health problems on!)

You're right.. I know, but I can't help to feel sad. I am very glad there is someone there that can help Ringo and I really hope he pulls through his ordeal. I guess it's for the best that he got sick now b/c he was scheduled for surgery next week and if they didn't know he was sick he probably would have died on the table. He's not out of the woods yet so he could use some vibes. I wish I could have helped him, but that's too much money for a single family fixed income especially just before Christmas.

If all goes well maybe we'll take a trip to the shelter on Monday, it's about an hour and a half away and see the new baby and go from there.

Or you could adopt an older cat. There are many very sweet and wonderful adults waiting for homes. Kittens find homes easily, it the older ones who sit and wait, usually in vain.

I would go to the shelter with an open mind and meet all of the kitties and take the one that chooses you.

Yes, the there is a great force and an almost magical impact on you by being chosen. Being the Chosen one.

Reading this, a memory arises:

When I was younger I did ride horses. Usually at some "riding school stable". Ie stable having groupvise lessons on theirs for hire lesson horses.
So a new job in a new city. and thus a new stable. They had 15 or 20 lessons horses, 2 of them heavy working horses. Nice fellows but not supposed to do any advanced dressage work and barely some easy jumping....

At the first lesson there I got one of the heavy work horses. Fine, Im always doing my best so. No big problem, I shall copy. After the lesson the horse wanted to cuddle with me. Ie did choosed me... I remember my despair: Now he did choosed me, thus he will thereafter be my favorite. Oh fate! 20 excellent horses in that stable, and my favorite here will be a friendly, but no good for nothing work horse!!! Why, why!

But it wasnt so bad. Me loving him, and he accepting me in 100%, I soon learned to work with him. Dressage went beautifully, better then on most other horses. Perhaps not very elegant, this would be to exagerrate a trifle. But he did what I wanted him to do. All the motions, good form.... Jumping was also good, once I got him together in a good form, getting him to work on also with his hind legs....

This was a verry nice and pleasant surprise!

Love with each other truly wins over all difficulties.

I loved reading about your horse memory. You are right. Being chosen is a beautiful thing and you can't be chosen through pics on a computer. Only in person can that wonderful animal (be it dog, cat, horse, puppy, kitten, ferret, etc.) choose you and make you theirs.

I'm sorry to hear that Ringo got so sick. I hope he recovers with the care the other family can afford.

But look at the positives of this. You still have space in your home for another kitten or cat that needs you very very much. Open your heart up and another kitty will surely find a place within.

Then again, I'll love any cat that comes along if they need me. Equal opportunity love here.
I even adore the neighbor's two boys and love on them, which is why they always come over to visit.
My neighbors directly beside me have four shelties that adore me, too.

I think that the new little kitten is adorable. I think that you have gotten some good advice. Let the bonding be the decision, whoever you choose will be the most beautiful kitty on the planet!

I wanted to go to the shelter today to see the new kitten, but he was placed in a foster home over the weekend. I have an appointment to go see him on Wednesday. His foster mom says he's a real sweetheart. If he likes us we will adopt him, but will have to wait until he's been fixed and given his shots (shelter policy). I thought about if I really like him if I could "foster" him until I can adopt him, but they probably won't go for that since we are over and hour away. I guess if it's meant to be it will happen.

At least I'm already approved for the adoption..

Hi! My name is Dolly and I am new here. Came across your post while browsing the site. This little sweetie is definitely Siamese/Siamese mix. I volunteer for the Siamese Cat Rescue Center located in VA...(we actually cover the whole East coast area)........and we get kittens like this all the time. They grow up to be beautiful, loving members of the family. As long as he is healthy, I advise you to adopt him. You won't be sorry!
