It's nothing fancy by any means but DH and I had such a great time building this together last night (it was my first but he's made them before for the shelter he worked at). Rosalie LOVES it! She hasn't spent much time inside, but she loves to lay on the top platform and play with her toy. I'll be adding one or two more for her eventually

Hey, nice work! My DH is a woodworker who is always looking to build things for our cats. I am going to show this to him. Winter is coming, a good thing to build out in his shop.

Great job

Might I ask, what is the post made out of? I've seen people use sono tubes, wood and other things for posts, but can't quite tell what yours is made of. Thanks

Very cool!
Do you think it means more to them knowing you made it for them? I know that sounds a little crazy but we have built a couple of things for our cats over the years and Buster watched us do it. He seems to like them SOO much more than the store-bought stuff!

Thanks everyone! The post is actually made from the roll that's used to hold the carpet, it was given to us along with the scrap carpeting and we just wrapped it in twine (after applying a spray adhesive to make sure it sticks). We also carpeted the inside floor for extra warmth as our floors are concrete/tile so they do get rather cold, this way she can keep extra warm
And yes, I do think it means more to me knowing that we were able to make it ourselves. I love building things and I think it ads a very nice personal touch and makes me feel good to see it and say "hey, I made that!" rather than "I picked out a nice peice to buy". DH and I put much thought into what exactly we would do for it to make (had the supplies for nearly 3 weeks) and even though it's not big or elaborate we put a lot of love into it. We're already thinking of what to make whenever she grows out of it and this one will be donated to the local animal shelter, which makes us feel even better
Oh, and we didn't get to spray it with catnip, she still seems a bit young and it has no effect on her yet, but as she gets a bit older we'll add some catnip mice to hang on it
