Do you have to do anything special with the electricity - or is it (electric-wise) like putting in a dryer or something?

we had a second guy come over and he's going to add the appropriate wire and snake it through our second floor, into a crawl space and add an outlet on our third floor: all for $300 or so dollars. The other guy wanted 600-700 for the same job.
