hi everyone, i have a 6 month old flame point himalayan kitten. since about 4 months, i noticed that on his forehead, slightly above his mask, there was one single spot of flame colored fur on his white head. i then noticed that there is a very small lump under the skin, almost directly below this spot. it is still there, but i don't think it has grown in size in the last couple months. he doesn't seem to notice at all when i rub over it and feel around at it.

have any of you ever heard of something like this? his health is my main priority, but i would rather not rush out and pay for an unnecessary veterinary procedure if this is a normal or common, harmless thing.

Welcome to TheCatSite....

Do you have a photo of the area that you are concerned about?
Frankly, I would want a vet to check the lump, just to be safe.
I am sure that other members will have some feedback for you.

Please make yourself at home.

Do cats get moles? Raised ones like we do - not the flat discolor spots.

I wonder if it could have been a scar from a past litter mate?
That can cause discolored fur to grow.

We have had cats at the shelter with mole like growths, but I can't remember what the vet called them. I would have a vet check it out to be sure. If the kitty got a cut on the head maybe he has an infection starting under the skin? Without at least a photo it really is hard to guess.

Penny has a black-colored raised cyst on the outside of her right ear, filled with black fluid (like old blood.)

When I had it checked (and lanced) by a vet, and then had it checked again on a follow-up, I was told it did not appear at all to be cancerous, that cats do tend to get cysts and moles, and just to keep an eye on it.

I was told it can be removed but at a very high cost, so the vet did not think it was worth having her undergo surgery for it. He said if it started to grow at a rapid rate then she would require surgery, but since then it has pretty much stayed the same, so I'm just watching it.

If you are really concerned your best bet is to have it looked at by a vet.
