Billy - you're somewhere close to three years old and you've been with us ONE whole year!

Billy, Bing and pregnant Goldie (renamed Guenivere by her foster mom) were the first ferals to turn up when we moved back into the RV. Goldie was so pregnant she went into labor almost as soon as she got to the vet the day we trapped them all, summer of 2008. Guen & her four babies were fostered and all found wonderful homes.

...Billy and Bing were almost inseparable, and our hearts broke when Bing totally bolted after being released.... but we (and Billy) got to rejoice when he turned up on time for dinner.

They'd walk side-by-side, tails wrapped around each other - and if they weren't together (which was rare), they'd RUN at each other, bump and rub all over.

They became friendly - but skittish - by summer's end. We knew our hearts would break if we didn't find them homes. We created fliers and searched, hoping to rehome them together. We managed to find a wonderful home for Bing, and though it broke our hearts to separate them, we knew we had to do it.

With 6 cats living peacefully in the RV, we really didn't want to disrupt the harmony and risk it all - but what choice was there?

As it turns out, Billy had giardia. He never would have survived the Winter. He couldn't put on the weight he would have needed to make it.

Fortunately, Billy was just so sweet and so submissive, other than with the alpha Lazlo, there really wasn't a problem. Even Spooky took to him right away!

Flowerbelle is his gal-pal, and they can play for hours at a time. Within the past month, even Tuxedo has gotten in on the action, playing chase with Billy!

They all thought he was some kind of alien at first, constantly trying to headbutt them. We thought we'd die of happiness the day Tuxie headbutted him first.
Though none are very snuggly with him (yet!), he's happy head-butting mommy and sleeping on my head or right up next to me, my shoulder his pillow.
And he loves it when Shelly grooms him - though it's never for as long as he'd like.

Billy is the sweetest soul, the gentlest kitty. His trust is complete and total, and he loves being held like a baby on his back in my arms. *melting!* Rather than disrupt the harmony, he's helped all of our gang to find their "inner kitten" again.

Billy, thank you for being happy.

Actually, we got a Bing update about two months ago.
He was very skittish and kinda scared of their younger son (4) - but sleeps protectively in his doorway at night.
He totally rules the roost now, has taken over the whole house, and no longer comes out just in the evenings or at night.
He's still scared of strangers, but his favorite place is on his mom's lap, and his favorite game is attack-the dog (an 85-pound I-don't remember what).
