I talked with the vet last night after he got out of surgery, and he said that Gary is doing really well, and that he is tough.
I have a little background story. Gary has always had this weird, hanging pocket of skin full of fat on his tummy. When he ran, it would flop back and forth, and sometimes would drag on the floor. after his first surgery, I joked with my friends and family that I should have had the vet remove that fat and skin, give him lipo and a tummy tuck. Well, apparantly, the problems he had this weekend was that this pocket of fat was completely abcessed. So Dr. Ian had to remove it. Gary's doc gave him liposuction. The good news is that the abdominal wall was still intact, so it was just this pocket of fat that was infected. Also, there is an organization that helps pay for some of the cost for animal care, and the lady told me that they would pay up to $200. So I get to bring Gary home today. yay!

That's great! Some of my cats have hanging down belly flab, so that's something I'll have to watch out for.
It's a good thing there is an organization that can help you. I wish I could find something like that here. Rags is facing surgery I think, and money is really tight.
Well, I'm glad to hear your kitty is better!

Thats fantastic news, I am so glad you are getting some help with costs and Gary can come home. Gosh my vat Smartie has a really flabby belly that hangs down, she is in no way fat but I will be keeping more of an eye on her now.xx

wow a kitty tummy tuck. My Manny has quite a pouch too. I never knew it could cause problems like that.

Thanks for your replies! when I went to pick him up, he crawled over to me, and tried to climb up onto me to give me a hug, but he was still a little weak. So I picked him up, and he snuggled with me. he was so happy to see me, and I was so happy to see that he is feeling better. He hasn't hugged me in a long time. But then I brought him home and had to give him a bath (Doc said it was okay) because he still smelled really bad from the infection. He hates baths. But now he is eating, and he was grooming himself. I have to give him a dose of antibiotics, and I hope he will forgive me soon. I love my Gary.

Awesome news! So glad your baby's home and he's doing better. Maybe I should ask the vet what he'd charge for lipo for my girl's "spay sway"!
