Im really getting sick of the cats stealing Franklins wet food. He eats Purina One Lamb and Rice pate style wet food and he has been on that since I got him from the breeder. He only gets its once a day for breakfast (Im not home most nights and cant depend on BF to feed the wet food) But Im getting royally sick of Fatman and GiGi butting their noses into his food and trying to steal it. So Im thinking of going and getting a case of different mixed wet food for them. But they will only get it for breakfast like Franklin. Is there anything I should worry about with adding wet food to their dry diet. They are fed a mix of TOTW and Purina Indoor. What Im hoping to do is start slowly with a different flavor a week and split a can up between the 3 of them. Hercules doesnt go gaga over wet food at all, or treats so I dont even think he will go for it but Fatman and GiGi are hogs about wet food....
Are there any brands I should stay away from?
If Im only feeding once a day how much should I give them?
What brands or flavors do you recommend?? Flavors I should stay away from?

Im hoping to get to a store this afternoon before I go to work since I already have to go into town for the bank and to put gas in my car so I can kill all three birds with one stone!

Thanks!!!

I have mine on Taste of the Wild and Nature's Variety Instinct dry, plus they get 2 canned meals a day. For the canned I use Wellness grain free, Blue Buffalo Wilderness grain free, Authority brand, Tiki Cat brand, and Merrick's brand. I do rotate brands and flavors of the canned from meal to meal.

It might be a good idea to try them on one brand and see how they do, then try another brand, etc. Once you see that they are doing well with a brand or flavor, you could offer different ones at each meal.

For mine I try to stay away from "meat by-products". I have used canned with a named by-product. I guess it is according to what you have access to in your area, price and if your crew will like them.

Sounds like Fatman and GiGi will be happy to have their own plate of wet food.

Well everyone is happy to have their own plate of wet food. Fatman especially....Im wondering if he would do better on a primarily wet diet. GiGi will eat her third of a can pretty good but she doesnt finish it off. Hercules has nibbled but none of them compare to Fatman. He is currently finishing off what Herc and GiGi left on their plates! I got them 9Lives to start out with they had a case of 12 (liver and bacon, chicken supper, and super supper) So far they like the liver and chicken one. I figured Id atleast just give them a little junk food to try out first and then start mixing in cans of the better quality stuff when I see how they do on the wet food. I really am watching their poop mostly because of Herc and GiGis past poop issues I want to make sure they dont start getting runny poop from the added wet food!

Eeeek once they like that junk food, it's hard to get them off of it
I was going to suggest since they all seem to like the Purina One, why not just give them that?

Even if they do start eating the wet food though, don't take away the dry right away. Just so they have time to adjust etc.

Runny poops can be caused by allergies or sometimes the ingredients. I tried giving Rascal some Friskies a couple of months back. He loved it! But it gave him instant diarrhea!

All my cats are pretty amicable when I change their food...They will eat just about anything I stick in front of their face. Fatman will actually eat the dog food (with the dog) dry or wet it doesnt matter! I think he does this when he is feeling lazy and doesnt want to jump the baby gate to his bedroom. But have 2 other cats who havent had wet food hardly at all before I wanted to try something I figured would get them used to having the wet in general. Im going to give it a week on just one wet meal a day before I potentially start measuring out their dry food for the day and then giving them 2 wet meals a day. I dont want to take away the dry food because I have piglets and they dont like not having food around all the time.
The last time I tried a monitered type feeding they got into the bags of food and knocked them down. I cant put them in the spare room because there are car parts and cleaning supplies in there and it just creeps me out to have their food and all that stuff in there together. I dont even keep cleaners in my kitchen with my food there.
I just scooped poop and noone has and runny poo at all so far so Im going to keep an eye on that. But Im going to go back to the store this weekend and get them some higher quality wet food to add to their diet. They get a mix of TOTW dry and Purina Indoor dry but Hercules will actually only eat the TOTW with nothing mixed I have to have a special bowl just for him. Im going to stay away from anything with Diamond in the name because of the recalls and I dont even want to trust that stuff but there was some Nutro wet food at CT and other good brands there that Im going to get for them and the dog because Franklins dry food is getting low and he is getting switched over to TOTW also (his will be mixed with Purina One Lamb and Rice)

Eekkkk did not know that!!! I was worried about the recalls I heard about with the Diamond food that I just avoid it at all costs at the store..I dont even bother looking at it!!! I didnt worry about TOTW because I didnt hear about any recalls for it and they all seemed to like it plus its not too much higher that what I was feeding them. The Nutro is astronomical where I live so I couldnt even think about switching them to that!!

Has there been anything about TOTW that I should know about???? Or was it just the Diamond (bags with Diamond on it) that was recalled before?
