Today myself and my little fur-family are celebrating Pixie's Second Gottcha Day.
When I got Pixie she was recovering from several injuries inflicted upon her by her previous owner who thought it amusing to beat a helpless little animal.
When she was brought into the shelter she had a broken front leg, and several large wounds on her stomach and right side.
At first the staff considered putting her down because of the extent of her injuries but because she was such a calm and loving little thing despite all her problems she was given a second chance. They had surgery done on her leg which now has a pin in it and stitched up all her other wounds, put her on antibiotics and hoped for the best.
From that point on Pixie never looked back, she healed up fairly quickly and became a well loved shelter mascot of sorts.
When the shelter was forced to shut down all the people who had adopted pets in the last two years were contacted to see if they were interested in a new addition to their families.
Within 5 minutes of meeting her I knew she was the one that would be coming home with me and a day later she did.
It was the fastest accumulation into a new household I have ever seen.
The minute I open the door of her carrier that first day she acted like she had been part of the family forever. She strutted out, headed straight to the food dish and had a little snack. Then proceeded to use both of litter boxes then climbed into Sassy kitty bed and went to sleep.
The boys didn't know what to make of her she acted like they were her best buds right from the beginning and by that evening they were all sleeping together.
So anyway here she is, my beautiful little girl. And quite frankly I will never understand why anyone would want to hurt such an adorable little creature.
Happy Gotcha Day Ms. Pix and here's hoping for many many more.
