My best friend used to nanny at the same time that I did, and the kids we nannied for were all about the same ages. We used to get together almost every single day for the kids to play together. That was about 2 years ago.

I heard from my friend today that the youngest child that she used to nanny for got both of his hands stuck in a wood chipper in their back yard. He lost a lot of blood and needed surgery immediately. His aunt said that most of the bones in his hands were shattered and he will most likely loose at the very least all of the tips of his fingers. Hopefully he doesn't loose both of his hands. The parents of these children are fairly negligent so I'm not surprised something like this happened, but I feel very sorry for the little boy.

Dylan is 4 years old. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers! Thank you!

Holy hell, a wood chipper?! That boy is lucky to have any hands/arms left at all. Poor little guy.
Many, many vibes to you, young Dylan for speed in healing from this.

That is certainly a terrible accident to have happen. My thoughts and prayers are with Dylan and his family at this time...lots of luck and healing vibes going out as well.

Well, he's doing good and at home now. It ended up only being his left hand. His pinky and ring fingers were wired and pinned, his middle finger was amputated, and his index finger will most likely have to be amputated also b/c there weren't enough bones to pin it but they decided to let it heal on it's own and deal with it later.

What happened was that his mom and dad were doing yard work. Mom was in the front yard raking leaves and dad was in the back yard dealing with branches with the wood chipper. The dad turned his back for a second (don't ask me why he turned him back on a running wood chipper in the first place with his 4 year old next to him) and when he turned back there was blood everywhere. He ripped his shirt off and put it around Dylan's hand and threw him in the car and yelled at his wife to meet him at the hospital. The mom didn't even know what happened and had to call on the way there to find out. Luckily their two older children weren't home to witness any of this or to get hurt themselves.

It's terrible what happened but I'm glad it wasn't worse. The father is not taking this well at all. Please continue to keep them in your thoughts. Thank you!

I hope that he doesn't lose his other finger. Poor kid! And they drove him to the hospital themselves? I don't know what those parents were thinking on any front. Prayers and vibes for the little guy.
