Wishing I were anywhere but here
I have been looking for a computer desk for about a month and a half. I finally found one at xxx at the right price (been waiting two weeks for it to go down) and the right size. I only have so much space.

I bought it last week at $69 (it was $129) put the receipt on the box with my name and number.

A friend of mine went to pick it up for me to find out they sold my desk!
Good thing my friend was there because I would have totally blown up.

He said they were completely embarrassed and knew they were complete morons. They are ordering me another one that will be here on Tuesday.

I called the store to file a complaint because I was worried about my information being on there and that I asked for a discount because they screwed up.

So now I get it on Tuesday with a discount! How stupid can you be?

Lots of stores do stuff like this. It's usually a problem with inventory (shows the desk in stock, though it's sold) or things just not being properly marked.

You can't really blame the employees, someone probably never told the person who sold your desk that they weren't supposed to sell it - maybe the manager could be blamed. Of course it's extra fun if you have a manager that doesn't ever tell you anything then you get in trouble for their mistakes...

That is so annoying! I'm glad they're selling you another one at the sale price. Unfortunately you just expect much in the way of good service anywhere these days it seems.

I'm one of those people who volunteers to stay behind when a flight is overbooked- it's too good a deal to pass up free flight for some inconvenience. It is frustrating when something gets screwed up, but if you get a good deal out of it it takes away some of the sting

A good old-fashioned red "SOLD" sign taped to it in the store could have prevented the re-sale! How dumb of the store not to think of that!!

It sounds like just an honest mistake. It sounds like they made it right, and then some.

Hey!! At least it will be BRAND SPANKING NEW and no one will have touched it and ran their grummy little fingers over it before deciding to not buy it.

I'm the type of person who has to have the package behind all the other packages that no one has touched.

Plus now it's even cheaper!

I would be completely angry too. After working for such a long time in retail, I tend not to get mad at the employee's anymore but I would have filed a complaint with customer service as well.

That's what I was thinking. Everybody makes mistakes -- pobody's nerfect! It's how the thing is handled that counts as far as I'm concerned, and they seem to have done the right thing.

True, but my biggest concern was that it was being discontinued and could no longer be found in the city I live in. I would have been really angry if they could not have gotten it any longer.

I wonder how much the discount will be? Anyone want to guess?
