Should I still got to the San Jose cat show since my stepmom died today

I am having a hard time trying to decide what to do.
My stepmoms funeral is Friday and the show is Sat/Sun.
I have until tomorrow to decide.
What would you do if this happened to you.
It is suppose to be Wrinkles first show.
I also was told by a few judges to bring Cleo one more time.

Ahhh Jacky this is a completely personal decision... there is no possible way IMHO for anyone to decide for you on this one...
One thing though: IMO, It will not be disrespectful of you to go; if your mind can be at the show... then... It might be a good thing for you to do.
Is your dad going to be taken care of? Is he counting on you? is there a family reunion going on... Take these things on consideration, but truly, this IMO is a very personal decision - There is NO right or wrong here, just the way YOU feel about it, and if you can handle the situation.
Me, a a latin, who cries with commercials and every soap opera... there is no way I could handle - I am way too dramatic for it... But that is not because of my morals, or what is right, or wrong, or whatever... That is because I am way way way too emotive, and would be crying around like a freaking baby at the show, and would be a silly disaster .
So, IMO, just look inside how you think you would handle it, and if you think you can.... then go. If your family needs you, then... There will be other shows to attend.

You are the only one who can answer that Jacky,

In my family it would be perfectly acceptable to continue on with life.

I agree with the other answers, it is totally your decision but there is nothing wrong at all and no-one will look down on you if you go.xx

Hun, if you want to go then go, it may just take your mind off things for a little bit and give you something to focus on.xx

Jacky, did your stepmom approve of you showing your cats? Was she proud of what your cats had accomplished? If YES to either question, I would go and show them in her memory. She would probably want you to deprive yourself of the experience.

My condolences on her passing.

She thought sphynx cats are ugly and never saw Wrinkles.
My dad lives 2 hours from here and the cat show is 30-45 minutes from my dad.

Jacky,

I have always had a different outlook on death. My outlook is that life does go on, be happy while YOU'RE here, do what makes YOU happy. I believe there is no real "death" but a new life awaits after our physical bodies aren't able to live any longer. I believe your stepmom is already pain free and happy and I think if you went to the show, she would find no problem with it and smile down on you with pride knowing you have such a unselfish spirit and a kindness for helping cats receive the love, attention and special care they need.

Death is sad, yes, very sad. However, YOU didn't die, your stepmom did and you should do what your heart says. For me, I would make a little sign dedicating the cat show to her. I think if other people saw it, they would understand that you are not looking for sympathy but understanding.

Good luck with your decision. It is YOUR decision.

Susan

I wrote the entry clerk asking if I can still enter the show but she has not answered me.
I am also not trusting Cleo but some of the judges said to show her again.
I am taking Wrinkles to the TICA show for sure.
I already entered it.

That is a call only you and your significant other can make together. I am sorry for your loss

Jackie,

Where in San Jose is the cat show? What are the hours? I'm attending a seminar on Saturday, but would love to come on Sunday to watch (that is if Whimsey is feeling OK).
