So here's the update as of now.

First the more hopeful situation. As a recap, little baby Max was born in March, and was diagnosed with a neuroblastoma around his heart a few months ago. He's been through four rounds of chemo so far, and he's due for new scans this coming week to see if the tumor has responded at all to treatment so far, so that they can decide what to do next. I know his mom, Marcy, and his family will greatly appreciate vibes and prayers that they won't have to do anymore chemo for the little guy!

The more dire situation. My friend with a brain tumor is only getting worse. It has grown three millimeters in the past two months and is starting to spread to one hemisphere of his brain, instead of staying between them. Its now been classified as highly aggressive, and the doctors are only giving him a few more months left.

He was trying to set up a trip to see Stonehenge, which he has always wanted to see, only now there is a problem with being able to travel in his medical state (whether he's allowed to or not) and in getting a passport, as in his state it takes five months to do, five months he doesn't have.

I am so sad for him, and I want so badly for things to somehow work out. I don't know how they can other than with a miracle, and I don't know if God is willing to give one of those right now. Please pray for him, and his family, and send all the vibes you can spare.

Thank you all for the vibes and prayers. Still praying for a miracle!

Baby Max gets an echocardiogram today, and a CT on Wednesday, sees the oncologist on Friday. They might get some news today from the cardiologist though as to whether the tumor is still around his aorta/vena cava, so that they can get a measure of how effective the chemo has been, and whether or not they can try to do surgery or not.

No word from my friend since Friday. I know he's got a lot to deal with, but I hate not hearing from him, because I never know when it will be for the last time...

Keep the vibes and prayers up please!

Check on the post office website. There should be a way to get the passport faster than 5 months. I learned about it when I worked for the post office a few years ago. usps.com is the address. It would be a shame for him not to be able to make his dream trip just because he cannot get a bunch of paperwork done.
I am so sorry to hear that so many of the people in your life are ill. You must be a very good friend to care so much. Many hugs and prayers to you and yours.

Thanks krazykat. The problem now is that he may not be able to travel in his medical condition. They are not sure whether he is on the "should not travel" list or the "cannot travel" list. I've told him about expedited passports, so hopefully that is not a huge problem.

I wish he'd come visit me, but I don't think he will.
I miss him so much, especially being able to talk to him. He's shut down a lot since all this started. I understand why, but it doesn't mean that I like it. If we only have a little while left, then I wish we could spend it, not waste it...

The echo results for Max from yesterday don't look too bad. There is no aortic involvement from the tumor, and no cardiac damage from the four rounds of chemo. The cardiologist says that there's no obstruction of flow in his aorta or vena cava, so that might mean that the tumor is no longer wrapped around them!

He goes in for his CT scan today, though they probably won't find out the results until Friday when he sees his oncologist. So please pray for baby Max, that his family might finally get some good news in this nightmare they have been going through!

I finally found Max's mom's latest blog update. HIS TUMOR HAS GONE DOWN BY 80%!!!!!!!!!!!!

No more chemo for Max!!!

It is hopefully small enough now that they can surgically remove it at their own hospital, and even if they can't, a specialist doctor will almost certainly do it.

He is not out of the woods yet as his genetic profile indicates that he is at high-risk for a relapse, but still, this is terrific, absolutely wonderful news. Thank you all for the vibes! Keep them up for my friend with the brain tumor please - if our prayers and vibes can help little Max, then I hope they can help him too!

Oh thank goodness! What wonderful news! I hope this will all turn out to be nothing more than an interesting story Max will grow up to tell to his own kids someday.

If your friend can get medical clearance to travel, the passport shouldn't be a problem -- the fastest way would probably be to call the offices of one or both of his state's senators. That's the sort of thing they love to do, if only for the good publicity it can bring them.

I hope he gets to take his trip, and is well enough to enjoy it!

And sweetie, I hope you're feeling well, too.

Thanks Carol. Its the medical clearance that is the big problem now - he's already contacted his senators, I think. No word from him yet as to whether he got clearance or not, though he sent me an email on Friday thanking me for something I had sent him.

Fingers still crossed, I guess, and still praying about it.
