Three days ago I came home to find the large window in my kitchen broken. and Aya playing in the middle of the glass. Luckilly the neighbor's kid responsible showed up about 20 minutes after I did to apologize for shooting a golf ball through the window.

With the help of some Japanese speaking colleagues I arranged with the leasing company to send over a guy this morning to fix it.

Poor Aya doesn't like strangers one bit. she usually dives for the back of the sofa when the doorbell rings and doesn't come out until they're gone.

This time she stuck around jsut long enough for the glass guy to see her and say "Neko," before diving in my basket of panties. After a few minutes huddling in my undies she decided she couldn't bury herself far enough in and slunk out of the basket dragging one of my bras that she hooked around her neck (the guy was still there). I managed to get the bra off her.

The guy then took out my window took the broken piece away and said he'd be back! Leaving an empty window sill and a giant hole. i"m on the second floor too.

aya was so scared she didn't come out from under my bed covers until he was well gone, an d then she was too scared to even approach the missing window. she spent the next hour hiding and prowling mewing at everything. and I was worried she'd jump out. She was way too scared for that.

Well, it all ended well. The guy came back an hour later and replaced the window. she stayed under the tarp on the bed for a good 20 minutes or so after he left. I finally stuck my hand under there and comforted her by petting her paw and talked her out.

Now everything's cool again. She's napping in meatloaf formation on the sofa near the repaired window.

What a shy scared kitty I have...

I had a cat like that growing up. She was all black and her name was Elvira. She didn't like ANYone and belonged to my Step mom and sisters...until I became part of the family. I will be completely honest and tell you that at the age of ten, I was a littel miffed that she was the first cat that wouldn't let me pet her. I probably terrorised her for a good month(significantly older and wiser and woul never do that again)...but then miraculously - I was the only human in the house she wanted to sleep with and the only human that she'd allow to touch her head.

Sometimes one human is lucky enough to be loved by a cat and they'll never like anyone else. Cat's are curious and precious like that IMO.

Awwww, poor Aya. My older cat, Callie, used to be a big fraidy cat, much like Aya. She'd immediately head under the bed or into the dark closet at the slightest knock or noise from outside the door. After many years together, she no longer bolts when we have visitors.

I did get a chuckle about her dragging out the bra, though! I'm sure you were totally embarrassed!
