There are two kitties at a shelter thats not to far from me that I keep going back to look at on pet finder. They are a no kill shelter and have several long term residents there. One is a three year old tabby, she has been there since she came in as a kitten with her sister. Her sister finally got adopted after a while but this kitty is still waiting. When I called about her, the staff told me she is a very laid back kitty.
The second is a nine month old kitty and she too came in as a kitten. This is a rural area and there just aren't a lot of homes for shelter animals. There are a lot of farmers out here and they just want barn cats and they aren't about to pay fee for a cat when they can get a whole litter of kittens free out of the paper.
My question is, how well would these cats adjust to a household? How well would they adjust to children one of which is a rambunctious 2 year old? He knows how to be nice, but he is still two and there for quite active and rather loud at times. How well would they adjust (especially the three year old cat) to having the freedom of an enitre house after growing up and living their whole lives in a cage at a shelter?
Sasha is my girl and I adore her and she seems to be extremely happy. I wouldn't want to do anything that would cause her undue stress so I'm not sure I will get these girls or not. Even so, I have to spay Sasha by the end of next month and in January the dog needs her heart worm test so I probably wouldn't be able to get them for a couple of months anyway. Its of course possible that they will find homes in this time. But if they haven't I have a hard time leaving them there.
They have other older kittties there too, but something in these two kitties faces calls to me.
