Someone contacted me telling me they were rehoming their 2 year old Siamese girl, and we chatted a bit over e-mail and over the phone, and she sounds PERFECT. The only problem is is that she lives 1 hour away from my home, and our car is currently in the shop being fixed. And the family is starting to move on Sunday. HOPEFULLY we can either 1) get our car before then or 2) find a place to meet up.

If all goes well, we will have a brand new furbaby in the house - can't wait!

Here's a picture her owner sent me (cellphone picture, sorry for the quality/size):

Anyway, what's everyone's experience/opinions regarding Siamese kitties? Would love to hear them.

She is beautiful!!! Why are they re-homing her? that is the most important question....

Another one of those "we are moving and can't take our cats with us" excuses. They start moving Sunday.

With Oregon's current unemployment rate and with companies laying off more and more people, it is true that many families are in tough situations. Not that it's ANY excuse to get rid of a part of the family.

Pisses me off! Wonder if they would give away their kids!
Anyways....... They talk! Siamese are FUN!!!! they talk... and talk and talk..... bla bla bla bal bla..... they are a lot of fun, very smart, demand attention, sweet, energetic, playful... They are fun to have around! I had one a long time ago... Charles was his name - a character, that's for sure!

My father was a big Siamese lover and I grow with a house full of them. They're great cats. Very people oriented. They tend to attach primarily to one human but generally like all people. They're a robust breed that on average live 4-5 years longer than other breeds.

They're LOUD!
That's the main reason, even though I love their personalities, I'll never have another Siamese!

These are, of course, generalities that may or may not fit a particular Siamese cat.

Well, they certainly fit our RB boy Nibs -- remembered with much affection.
He certainly was loud, but when he was bellowing at the other end of the house, it was only necessary to bellow back, "Nibs! Put a sock in it!", and he'd shut up and come for a scritch.
There is no Siamese in our home just now, but I rather imagine there might be at some time in the future.

Good luck getting her, she's a cutie! I drove a bit over an hour (with my 3 kids, my friend and her 2 kids, lol) to pick up Rosalie, SO worth it

Sounds like some dogs I know! But I suppose that, unlike dogs, they can't be trained to "quiet down"?

Anyway, sounds good to me

Oh my Eden had a worse life than I can imagine for the first 3 or so years of her life. When I got her she was pregnant, dehydrated, starved, & unable to even walk straight. I nursed her along, raised those babies with her - and then I kept her.
She has seizures occaisonally (due to the rough start to life she had), and her balance is a bit "iffy" sometimes. She is one of *the best kitties ever*....I sit down & bam she's in my lap (which does get annoying sometimes
). She's a chatter, a cuddler, a kisser, and a biter sometimes too.

Siamese do tend to be very people-oriented, almost dog-like in their devotion. Most of them have "the voice," but they don't use it all the time. They also have a reputation for wanting to be on the highest perch in the room.

There are many old tales about the Siameseseseses (get started with the "s's" and it's hard to stop), such as why they have a kink in the tail (many do).
