Broken Glass

Came home today to find the full length mirror face down on the floor with jagged glass on the carpet. There's no way for me to know for sure, but I think it must have hit one of my cats because it looked like there was a point of impact in the mirror. Perhaps it landed on a kitty that couldn't get away fast enough?

What was most disturbing was that I find a big sliver in the living room. Did one of the cats unwittingly carry it out of the bedroom, say on it's back? Or did one of them carry it out with its mouth?

I went over my cats, running my fingers through their fur and checked their paws and mouth. Nothing. No visible cuts, no blood anywhere. I am relieved but worried that I have missed something. I'm also worried that the cats may have swallowed tiny pieces in one of their cleaning sessions. There were plenty of bits and pieces on the carpet.

Any similar experiences? Will swallowing microscopic glass cause internal injuries?

I had a glass (drinking glass) break that didn't get cleaned up that well (thank you Josh!) and Harvey kept finding pieces under the oven and playing with them. Why I have no idea. Never cut himself though. I had to move the oven out to make sure it was all gone.

It's possible they swallowed some tiny pieces so just watch for any warning signs like pain, vomiting, constipation, etc.

Hope everything ends up okay! !

I also came home yesterday to find my kitty playing with large chunks of window glass. Turns out a neighbors kid broke my kitchen window with a golf ball! I cleaned up, but she was still findnig large chunks and bringing them to me as gifts, "See mom, look its a shiny new toy!" And I know this cat has absolutely no common sense with what she puts in her mouth.

So far they seem fine. I guess cats are nimble enough to carry glass around without cutting their mouths.
